A massive outage struck large swaths of the Internet early Tuesday, causing the New York Times, CNN, BBC, Amazon, Hulu and other high-traffic websites and platforms to temporarily shut down.

Personally I have never dug a grave myself but I think that this thread is still somewhat active. I have not noticed anything wrong with my internet connection. All those websites that were listed in the original post make up way less than 0.1% of all internet traffic. It is for this reason that I believe it is both wrong and misleading to describe the internet as being shut down. The internet was not shut down temporarily. Maybe a few websites went offline for a short duration. I do not believe that such an event is either significant or notable.
