HyperXewl 162
FAQ Q) What is HoN (64-Bit)? A) HoN (64-Bit) is built with technology 15 years senior to the current version of the game, as well as vastly upgrading multiple extension libraries with some up to a decade senior, the most notable change being compiled as 64-Bit opposed to 32-Bit. This results in a much more stable experience for those on the Latest Windows (10) most notably Faster FPS, and Reduced Loading Times. Q) Why is this a Separate Client instead of updating the current game? A) HoN has gone without major upgrades such as a new rendering engine, upgrades such as multi threaded performance, or even upgrading libraries. To have a completely separate version of the game built with latest technology means we can have a bleeding edge version of the game without breaking the stable version (32-Bit) Additionally, adding 64-Bit versions of the game to the current pipeline this late in the games life span is a huge risk. Q) What happens to my settings? A) HoN (64-Bit) configuration is separate to the (32-Bit) client, however when you first install, your settings will be copied over the first time, so if you are simply transitioning to the newer client, this will be seemless. HoN (32-Bit) Settings: /My Documents/Heroes of Newerth/ HoN (64-Bit) Settings: /My Documents/Heroes of Newerth x64/ Q) Should I delete my current HoN Install and replace it with this? A) This is up to you. At the time of writing this, HoN (64-Bit) is brand new, if you are experiencing any issues, having the original client can be helpful as a fallback. Q) Are there any visual differences between HoN (32-Bit) and HoN (64-Bit) ? A) Yes, but entirely cosmetic, this is still Heroes of Newerth. Different Game Name "Heroes of Newerth x64" Separate configuration folder in My Documents HoN icon has a black tint to separate itself from 32 bit Custom Boot Logo Login Screen Animation is Higher Resolution Future Plans Server Performance Boosts We are slowly migrating all servers to 64-Bit versions. This will be done in phases, as it requires the cooperation of the System Administrators from Garena. This will bring great performance to games that often stutter during late 50+ minutes, as well as allowing even more games to run per server! HoN (64-Bit) for macOS Catalina/Big Sur HoN (32-Bit) currently cannot be played on the latest Mac operating system due to 32-bit app support being dropped by Apple. We're bringing it back with bells and whistles, so those seeking to play HoN Native on the Mac once again will be able to do so with many modern enhancements! We have a working version in house already, however there are a few issues to iron out left including with distribution to deal with before we can get it in your hands. UPDATE: We now have a closed beta for mac! Including a native m1 port. macOS 64-Bit Universal [Beta] Update: Apple Silicon (m1) Native port - General Discussion - HoN Forums (heroesofnewerth.com) New Rendering Pipeline (Modern OpenGL) We're working on a complete rewrite of our OpenGL rendering pipeline, that will far outclass our current primary pipeline DirectX9 in terms of FPS and graphic potential (especially shaders)! This will be especially good news for the MacOSX Port which primarily uses an outdated OpenGL pipeline. Multithreaded Performance & Multiple Core Usage Adding multithreading & multiple core usage of any kind to a game this old is very tricky, however we have concepted multithreading certain elements of the game (e.g. the particle system for visual effects). Our plans are to complete this and add it as a 64-bit exclusive experimental option some time in 2021. This brings major performance to team fights! Model Viewer A dream tool for the modders out there, this is our in-house tool to view game models, animations and effects, with multiple sliders to change lighting and backgrounds. We're bringing this into HoN as a 64-Bit Client exclusive feature! Front Page Download We plan to add HoN (64-Bit) as an alternative download on the front page in time, initially releasing on the forums first. Thank you to everyone involved in bringing us these juicy news and I can't wait for the other stuff (multithreading, new rendering pipeline, etc.). 1 We’re the middle children of history. Manu311 176
Great work - after 11 years, Windows people finally can get a client as fast as mine has been . Rip suggesting people to switch to Linux to get a faster HoN . 1 hour ago, HyperXewl said: New Rendering Pipeline (Modern OpenGL) We're working on a complete rewrite of our OpenGL rendering pipeline, that will far outclass our current primary pipeline DirectX9 in terms of FPS and graphic potential (especially shaders)! Also will you drop DirectX once your OpenGl-Rework is running better than that?
