The Bloodletter - Lifesteal/Regeneration Tank, with a twist!
Note: This hero was barely entered into the Strength Hero Contest. As a nearly-late submission, it received no feedback from forum users due to thread closing. I have pasted it here to allow discussion, and to see what people think of this suggestion. Read on!
![]() The Bloodletter Strength: 23 + 2.5 Agility: 14 + 1.3 Intelligence: 17 + 1.8 Damage: 50-59 Armor: 3.00 Move Speed: 300 This hero is based on a unique style of tanking that involves high regeneration and life-steal to create a powerful field presence when properly used. I have not developed anything cosmetic, but personally I would see this hero as a warlock or possibly a demon-mage of sorts. To fit with his theme of death, I would love to see him with a scythe. On to his blood-based abilities. Life Tap (Hotkeyed to Q) The Bloodletter forms visible links of life between himself and all enemies with the Tainted debuff within 700 units. This link breaks if it exceeds 1000 units. Life Tap applies Draining to all linked targets: Draining: 2%/3%/4%/5% of the targets current HP is transferred to the Bloodletter per second. Cast time: Instant Cooldown: 15 seconds at all levels. Mana Cost: 110/120/130/140 Duration: 10 seconds Range: 700, breaks at 1000. This is the skill that allows the Bloodletter to tank by linking with multiple heroes in a fight. Transfusion (Hotkeyed to W) The Bloodletter forms a link with a targeted ally. While under the effects of the link, the Bloodletter instills a rapid regeneration in his target. Grants 3%/4%/5%/6% of the allies max health to them per second, while draining 3%/4%/5%/6% of the the Bloodletter's health. Cast time: Instant Cooldown: 3 seconds at all levels Mana Cost: 50 at all levels Duration: 10 seconds. Range: 700, breaks at 1000. This skill allows the Bloodletter to keep his allies in the fight for longer while giving him a presence to the other team. It is possible to link multiple targets, but this drains his health incredibly fast. Still, if links were present on his enemies, the negative effects of this skill are reduced. When Transfusion is learned, the following ability is also learned. Break (Hotkeyed to E) This simply severs all connections with allied units. No cast times, cooldowns, or costs. Sweeping Strikes The Bloodletter's scythe allows for dealing damage to multiple, clumped targets, and taints the blood of enemy heroes whom it touches. 8%/16%/24%/32% of damage dealt as cleaving. Applies Tainted to enemy heroes. 3%/6%/9%/12% slow. Lasts 8 seconds. This skill lasts long enough to affect multiple targets before the usage of Life Tap. The link does not break if the debuff expires. The cleave from this skill plants the debuff on enemy heroes. Blood Empowerment - Passive The Bloodletter uses the stored life of his enemies to reduce his suffering, even inflicting it to those linked. 5%/10%/15%/20% of damage taken is ignored. (Subject to change.) 3%/5%/7%/10% of damage taken is dealt as Magical damage. Do not think that this skill allows Bloodletter to take 30% less damage. The correct value is 20%. Ultimate - Blood Clot (Hotkeyed to R) The Bloodletter solidifies the life transfers between his foes. The ensuing clot stuns all linked enemies for 3/4/5 seconds. During this time, Bloodletter is completely stunned except for the ability to use Transfusion. Allies affected by Transfusion during the ultimate have Blood Frenzy applied: +10%/15%/20% base damage. Cast Time: .3 seconds Mana Cost: 200 at all levels Cooldown: 100/90/80 seconds This skill grants teamfighting capability to the Bloodletter, and synergizes directly with all of his skills. As a channeled skill, a stun or silence will break this spell. And as a tank, that is what the Bloodletter player wants: To be the target of these spells. Ideally, here's how the hero would operate in a team fight. After the battle is initiated, the player would land one auto attack on 2-4 of the enemy heroes. Most importantly the disablers and stunners, as well as one high HP hero by which to sustain a powerful Life Tap. After doing this, Blood Clot would be used as a very standard team-fighting stun. The player would do his best to use Transfusion on an ally before the ultimate or right after it is cast. This hero can also operate admirably as a chaser. By attacking his enemy at least once, he can continue to slow him similar to how Accursed and Slither use their on-attack slows. With the Tainted debuff on the target, he can begin Life Tap during the chase, allowing him to damage the enemy and possibly even tower-dive at earlier levels than other heroes can. -------- This work is highly subject to change and suggestion. Thanks for reading, I will actively edit and respond to comments! (Again as a last-minute entry, I have created no backstories or flavor texts. If people highly demand -unlikely- I will be more than happy to write some up.) Last edited by Solidsneak; 03-16-2010 at 06:43 AM. |

Oh and please!
Whether or not you vote, please drop a comment! I would like to read what you thought of my work, and what changes you think make this hero realistic! As with many suggestions, the actual numbers in abilities are highly subject to change; The concepts are what I would like feedback on if nothing else! ![]() This post will also serve as a workspace for changelogs and notes as they come. |

I don't see what is horrible about my texts, sir. Grammatically sound, easy to read, etc.
If you didn't catch it, this thread was made before a deadline; as such, the arts and pictures are not yet present. And don't forget, the ideas are what matter, not pretty colours. As for structure, I do not follow you. All of it is very simply ordered. But if you tell me what you think isn't working, I'll see what I can do about it. |

This is one of the most bad ass ideas I have seen to come out of this contest yet. You get my vote. And Northberg, wtf who cares about spending hours making concept art and multicolored text... S2 cares about skill concept not half-ass art jobs and hero themes. So until you can make a solid suggestion, I suggest you refrain from posting, it does not suit you.

Right to the point... Range and duration... None skill has that... What makes them hell OP...
Life Tap, Transfusion, Sweeping Strikes, Blood Empowerment and Ultimate - Blood Clot... WTF??? I'm the only one looking at 4 skills and one ult??? I understand you made it in a rush, but there are some serious problems here... I'm saving my vote for now, cause I liked the idea of the hero... One more thing... Place somethig to explain more about him, how he synergy from links works... I'm still now sure if I realy got how to play on this guy.... For now, waiting for some updates... |

Alright, I'll clear some things up.
Range and durations I think are all in there at the moment, but I'll list them again with the other numerical statistics so that they're easy to see. As far as 4 skills and ult, here's what happened. I see the Life Tap and Transfusion as the same skill- in a rush, it seems I made them two entirely separate abilities with little explanation. In theory, Life Tap is a skill that is slightly like Maliken's Sword of the Damned. That is, its a two part skill. I think that if I simply change the name on Transfusion, it might fix things. But its important to note that "Transfusion" and Life Tap are activated in totally different ways. The synergy between his moves works like this: Life Tap steals health from enemies, and gives it to me. Transfusion gives health from me, to my team-mates. The simple synergy here is that I can link enemies and allies (at the same time, even) to spare me health while healing my allies in a unique way. Blood Empowerment aids the Bloodletter's ability to tank, while having a synergy with Life Tap. Once he links to a hero or two on the other team, he begs to be targeted with spells to stop the considerable damage he is dealing. And of course, the damage he takes hurts his enemies further. Finally, his ultimate has a synergy with Life Tap simply because it cannot be used without it, and also with Transfusion due to the nature of the buff. What else would you like me to explain? And thanks for actually leaving a comment showing what you wanted to know. |

Oh, my mistake. If an enemy moves 1000 units away from him (number subject to change) the link breaks, but it has a max duration of 10 seconds. (Also subject to change.)

I think for transfusion, you should give your teammate percentage of your health, not theirs
