Why is there always a delay between the windblowz and the linux/mac updates?

Hope linux/mac users don't honestly expect to get equivalent treatment to windows users when they represent a way smaller percentage of users.

I'm a linux user myself, and yeah, it does kinda suck to not be able to play exactly when you want to, but remember

1. Its beta, be glad you can play in the fist place

2. Its a port to a minority platform, be glad that they chose to make it linux/mac native when 99% of other commercial games made by studios with way more resources don't.

3. Disrespect and whining from linux/mac users could influence them not to bother in the future

So support S2 for caring enough to make an awesome game, an awesome beta, and porting it too, something that only a handfull of companies do

If they don't want my money, they won't get it. Simple enough.

I must point out - this game is in BETA stages - so EXPECT stuff to be broken.
However - there's NO excuse for not shipping the update on all platforms at the same time!

When supporting several platforms, it's really important to make sure the code runs on ALL platform before sending an update out!
If some of the patches are messing up the compatibility with anything else then the Winblows client - those patches should be corrected BEFORE sending out an update!

So, I cannot think of a single reason for why there should be a delay with the mac/Linux clients...

I do agree at a certain level with you Serjn. I am happy that they decided to make this game also for Linux/Max, because indeed, we don't have alot of games.

However, this is not a port, they chose to develop this game for Windows, Mac and Linux. I might be a smaller percentage of the users, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't receive equal treatment. Imo, if a company decides to release a game for all OS, they should support all OS equally.

And it's just the shear lack of communication that bothers me. Just an update would be really helpful; we got one now, but a few hours ago (when the patch came live) would be much nicer.

I agree.
And the ONLY reason I would consider paying for this game - IS because it has a native Linux client! I think that is worth supporting!
I used to play EVE a lot as well - mainly because they had a native Linux client - and because it's a good game.
Sadly they discontinued the Linux clients - and I was unable to play anymore. (Ok, it should run with wine - but I don't wanna rely on that!)

I'm on a mac and pre-ordered. I read a book, walk the dog, self gratify, watch movies. When the game IS RELEASED of course for balance/competitive/fairness they will be patched at the same time. But it's beta, you should just be happy you are playing this instead of LoL...seriously because LoL is LOL terribad.

When I can't play on my mac, I just play on my PC... with its 40" HDTV screen. But I prefer HoN on my mac.

You are paying for nothing at the moment.

When you are your complaint will be valid.

Though your concern that patching is falling out of sync is valid for your future impression of how things will be. I am still iffy about pre-ordering due to this concern. I don't want to pay money for a game which they later drop support for or start lagging patches by weeks or months (remember Americas Army). I might wait for an official statement by S2 that I can point to later before handing over money.

I do want to support their effort and foresight to give me a native client.
