I don't know if people will like this idea or not, but I think that if you choose quickly, you should get a slight advantage.
i.e. Pick in the first 30 seconds and click ready, you get +100g
after 30 secs but before 1 minute and click ready, you get +75g
after 1 minute but before 1:30 and click ready, you get +50g
Clicking ready after 1:30 gets you +25g
This will give people who are quick to pick more starting gold and therefore a slight advantage, but might make teams not as streamlined. Will also give people who don't mind the less gold a greater chance to pick counters.
We could make this slightly different as in:
Before 1 minute is up if you are ready, +50g
You are ready before game starts, +25g
Therefore less advantage but still promotes teams to be ready to get enough gold for an extra mana pot etc.

I'd disagree. There's enough first second "Night Hound" "Ready" as it is, and this would only encourage that kind of utter lack of team play. Teams should coordinate picks, which takes longer than 30 seconds.
But not putting this in will not stop first second NH -> Ready picks.
I also put in the second option of
Before 1 minute is up if you are ready, +50g
You are ready before game starts, +25g
Which would promote people to be quick and not totally hinder team play. Its more to stop people from waiting until the last second to choose. Gives everyone a chance to see what you have at the cost of a small amount of gold. 50g is not going to make or break your game but it might get you up over someone with equal skill.

There's no poll? And thumbs down anyways. It's suppose to be a balance game from the start. Everyone gets to choose their unique hero. If you random (and there is a reason for that extra gold) and don't like your hero, repicking is a penalty. Everyone starts with the same gold and given a pretty even chance of winning. The rest of the game is decided by the skill of the players. Despite the fact that some heroes are over powered.
First of all, you forgot to add the required poll to this thread.
Secondly, I'd have to disagree with this idea... it's just going to further perpetuate people in public games instantly picking scout/nh/chronos/et cetera -- and destroying their team's synergy.
I like that you're thinking, so if you have any other ideas - please come back with them! But this one... I'd have to vote no (if/when you add a poll).
