[0.3.0.2B] Pollywog Priest's Magical Bindings -> Let him use his tounge!

[Q] Why is Pollywog Priest such an underused hero? He does have a great ganking as well as team fight and pushcapacity...
[A] Because he's a frog that dosen't use his tongue!

That's why I present to you...

The positive Pollywog Priest- marvellous Magical Bindings Remake!

    OLD...

    Cast Range:
    400
    Duration: 2.5/3.25/4/4.75 seconds
    Mana Cost: 110/130/155/185

    NEW!

    Lingual Strangulation

^A more awesome picture will be required, this is what I could find for now.

    Action: Target Unit
    Target: Enemy Units
    Type: Magic

Pollywog Priest launches his long sticky tongue at a target unit, when the tongue latches onto the unit it will wrap itself around it, preventing it from moving, attacking, casting spells, or using items. The Lingual Strangulation causes Magic damage over time to the target enemy.

    Cast Range:
    400
    Duration: 2.5/3.25/4/4.75 seconds
    Mana Cost: 110/130/155/185
    Projectile speed: Instant
    Cooldown: 16 seconds

Effects: Revealed, Frozen, Stunned, 40 Magic damage per second

"CAUTION: Refrain from using on heavily armoured targets in cold weather"

Visual: Pushes his shoulder back whilst jerking his head forward as he opens his mouth up wide, shooting out his tongue which wraps itself around the target on hit. The target will also be covered in a suspicious looking goo which starts to drip of when the spell is over.
    __________________________________________________

    Argumentation:

Pollywog Priest is a frog. It is considered common knowledge that the frog's most lethal weapon is it's tongue, so to give him a new fun and cool spell that fits his theme, this will cause people to play him more which will give S2 a more fair chance to balance him.

Since Pollywog Priest is currently an underused hero in low tier as well as in metagame this would be a turn point for the poor little tadpole.

    __________________________________________________

    Vote YES!
Let him use his tongue! Make Pollywog Priest a hero as cool and intimidating as the Rhasta of that other game we used to play.

    or

    Vote NO!
He shalt keep shooting a fizzly ray out of his wand. Let him lie in the smutty waters of the low tier, clenching to his last shred of dignity.

    Changelog

    [2010-02-26]

    • The positive Pollywog Priest- marvellous Magical Bindings Remake! is now purely a visual remake. The Anuran Saliva and the reduced channel time is gone. In this post is the old spell.

    For that extra buff:

Movement Slowed by 5/10/15/20%, Attack Speed by 20/40/60/80%, 30 magic damage per second

    Makes this like:

Movement Slowed by 10%, Attack Speed by 20%, 25 magic damage per second, so the change wouldn't be too OP...

Then I totally approve, voted yes

I disagree, Pollywog Priest is not a frog

    hes a Pollywog

And they are way to cool to use tongues.
I carry a cucumber in my pocket at all times, just in case.

For centuries, every great Frog of the marsh peoples has wielded both political and magical power as the chief priest of the Wild Cults. Called upon by his Beast brethren in this time of war, the Pollywog Priest has come forth to use those powers in defense of his people and Newerth itself. from Heroes of Newerth - Heroes Database
/...every great Frog of the marsh.../ -> from the context it indirectly implies that Pollywog Priest is himself indeed also, a great frog.

A tadpole, polliwog , or pollywiggle, is the wholly aquatic larval stage in the life cycle of an amphibian, particularly of a frog or toad. from Wikipedia
/.... aquatic larval stage .../ -> Pollywog Priest clearly walks on land on two legs, thus he cannot be a pollywog.

The name Pollywog Priest refers to that he is a Priest of Pollywogs, not a Priest being a Pollywog. My argument stands.

Definitely yes. Change that ugly sheepstick-thing to a proper sheep, too.

I prefer the old ability. Well, if he can use his tong with it I agree.

    2.5 second disable, dealing 30 damage/sec (75), followed by 3 seconds of slow and 30dps (90) at level 1?

Disregarding numbers, I don't believe this is the best way to bring Pollywog up in the tiers. He generally will kill whoever he grabs before it's over, as that's a basis of his gameplay.

This is interesting. Smart to use the tongue
    My suggestions to

Change Teamcolor (depending on what team you are on)

    and

Remake for the team only if someone disconnects.

You're absolutely right, changed to 5/10/15/25 instead of flat 30. Results in 75+15 = 90 damage on level 1.

It's true that he kills whatever he holds, but this is to allow him to have decent performance even if the channelling is interrupted. But it's mainly about the tongue being cooler

What a cunning linguist this priest is.

I like the idea of this getting a buff... Elec's channeling stun just sort of blows this out of the water.

I wouldn't mind if they just changed the animation so it's his tongue wrapping around shackled target instead. That would be good too.

Linguist? What does that have to do with this? I think you are confusing "lingual" with "linguistic", there's a difference you know

Instead of just imprisoning Pollywog interrupting the spell? What? What does that have to do with the spell makeover?

    Epic. Agreed.

I vote no until it's EXACTLY a visual change. Don't tweak a hero that's been around forever.

I might actually surrender to that ultimatum, the whole thing is centred around the visual change. I just thought it would be funny with some saliva sticking off on the enemy and then I started thinking and just couldn't resist...

OK! It will from now on be a visual remake only!

    Changelog!

    Lingual Strangulation

A more awesome picture will be required, this is what I could find for now.

Applies Anuran Saliva to the target for 3 seconds.

    Cast Range:
    450
    Duration: 2.5/3/3.5/4 seconds
    Mana Cost: 110/130/155/185
    Projectile speed: 1200
    Cooldown: 16 seconds

Lingual Strangulation Effects: Revealed, Frozen, Stunned, 30 Magic damage per second
Anuran Saliva Effects: Movement Slowed by 5/10/15/20%, Attack Speed by 20/40/60/80%, 5/10/15/25 magic damage per second

Visual: Pushes his shoulder back whilst jerking his head forward as he opens his mouth up wide, shooting out his tongue which wraps itself around the target on hit. The target will also be covered in a suspicious looking goo which starts to drip of when the spell is over.

    Balance:

The buff to the spell is the Anuran Saliva which is applied afterwards, whilst it remotely slows attack speed it massively slows attack speed. The pro with this is that even if you must cancel the spell prematurely to put yourself out of danger or get interrupted you still get this effect off.

The nerf is the reduced 0.75 seconds on final level. Allthough it starts with the same value (2.5 seconds) it just scales less with level. This is to be compensated by the slow from Anuran Saliva.

Another nerf is the projectile speed (450/1200= 0.375 seconds delay), which is to be compensated by the increased range.
^This^ is gone from now on. It will remain the same as the old spell.
