I was really bored in my last match and ended up on the winning team with way to much gold. I was browsing the items and saw harkons - ofc I thought hmm.
It works on the first shot of the turret only; but still seemed rather effective. So I did some theorycrafting:
IF YOU DONT LIKE MATH SCROLL DOWN
Considering the effectiveness of SHIELDBREAKER + MACE (10,000g)
+80;46 (PROC + 35 DPS)= 161 DPS. Minus 8 armor calling the average 14 = ~11-20% damage reduction mid game.
"best case" 145 dpsHarkons with low magic armor + Hammer (11,250g)
35;94 (PROC + ~40 DPS)= 169 DPS Minus 5 M Armor = 0% damage reduction.
"best case" 169 dps
Turret breakdown:
Melee:
(80% dps + ~40) * (100 - %armor reduc)
harkons:
(80% dps + ~40) + ((80% dps + ~40) * (100 - %armor reduc)) * .5Therefore:
Melee:
(161 * .2 + 40) * .89 = ~64.3
Harkons
((169 * .2 + 40) / 3) + (((169 * .2 + 40) * .8) * .5) =
(24.6) + (13.52) = ~38
Total output:
Melee
145 + 64.3 = 209.3 DPS
At a rate of 47g/dps
Harkons:
169 + 38 = 207 DPS
At a rate of 54g/dps
End result; not worth it. If you have a large number of casters the enemy team will probably barrier, if you dont you are not adding support and you are still dealing less damage at a significantly higher cost.
Any thoughts?
What if you add hellbringers lifevoid to the equation?

And since you can assume barrier will prevent the 400 damage whether you have harkon's or not based on your spells and teammates spells, it doesn't make harkons deal less damage. Headress and shrunken head certainly make a difference, but unless 3 or 4 of them have those items its not a big deal.
I doubt it. Overpriced and it doesn't really add viability to engi himself, his skills being rather mana intensive. Isn't there a base magic resistance of something like 10%? In this case the calculations of the "best case scenario" would be inaccurate.
It's about 25% IIRC. But remember Harkon's lowers magic resistance.
50 mana cost per attack is a bit too intense.
Only hero Harkon's is viable with, is Puppet Master.
