Ok so earlier today, a guy named rgarrett posted on the general beta testing forums a very good idea, but very poorly constructed and apparently didn't want to post it here so I will.
When you are in the pre-game stage (I think it's called lobby so I'll call it that), it would be neat to have distinct sounds for when people connect / disconnect, so you can keep track of the actual number of players on the lobby when you are watching tv, alt tabbing or anything else.
Just a simple, easy and practical suggestion.

Good idea. There should be a special announcement when the 10th person starts connecting, so you know to alt-tab back into the game. This feature should also be disableable from the options menu, for the benefit of people who would find it annoying.
Aye i agree, the idea Zakharov suggested is also a very good one.
