Was this item's visual effect changed, or is it just me? I see it doing a blurry effect when cast, maybe I never actually payed attention, altho I doubt xD
If so, it means it was added with the idea of a bit of confusion in mind and if that's true, it means it should random the position of your hero, since confusion is 0 when knowing the real target is allways in the middle :S

It's not consistent with DotA's Manta Style split positioning (yet).

Yes. Well, was it blurry like that allways?) never noticed, I only saw it like "plant 2 illusions next to me" untill this patch xD
I don't know about the illusion blur effects. But it doesn't really matter when it was implemented :/

The effect is new a few patches ago (1 or 2?)I find it pretty.
didnt realize it so far. but besides its pretty ... well, its just that, pretty, 0 confusion since hero is allways in the middle xD unless you move around ninja fast
