Replay Guide

What every thing does.
- Condenses the window into just the top bar.
- Choose what perspective to view the game from. (player, hero)
- Shows what time mark you are at
- Shows how long the game is
- Allows you to lock the camera to a hero so you can fallow them around
- Shows how far along you are. You can slide the green dot back and
forth to see different parts of the game.- Toggles fog of war on and off
- Shows the speed you are viewing the game at
- Moves you back 5 seconds
- Slows game speed down by half (1/2, 1/4, 1/8)
- Resumes the game
- Pauses the game
- Increases game speed by a factor of 2 (2, 4, 8)
- Moves you forward 5 seconds
Where are my replays saved?
Windows C:\Users\<user name>\My Documents\Heroes of Newerth\game\replays
Linux /home/user/Heroes of Newerth/game/replays
Mac ???
NOTE: All replays are available from version 0.1.63 onwards. This means games played in older patches, unfortunately, are unable to be viewed at the moment.

To increase camera distance and not see unrendered (black) areas:
g_camdistancemax 2500
scene_farClip 3500

To get an extreme field of view (incredible watching replays like this):
g_camdistancemax 20000
scene_farClip 25000
Press F12 in-game to remove interface
Hold "\" (above enter key) and move mouse to change viewing angle

I knew all currently written in the guide already.
I would suggest adding:
1) Instructions to deleting replays [saving space]
2) A list of simple Cvar's like some have already posts, and also how these Cvars are used and if the effect persists, how to use them etc...
Otherwise great guide for new players.

How do you enter console commands? Every guide gives a list of them, but not on how to physically open the console.
ctrl+f6 or f8
Control+F8 for console.
Also worth mentioning that replays are in My Documents\Heroes of Newerth\Game\Replays
I would like to mention that replays once downloaded can be watched offline. This is handy if you are on the move without an internet connection but would still like to get your daily dose of HoN.
I'll use a picture to explain:
Step 1: Press the "View Replay" button once the HoN application has loaded.
Step 2: Now you will see the replay interface load. Here you can find the replays that is located in your HoN replay folder. Find the game which you want to view in the replay list.
Step 3: Press the "View Replay" button and the replay will load.
Note for S2: I've experienced a bug with the "view replay interface" from the picture above. Once you selected a specific game to watch It'll sometimes load a different game. Not sure how to replicate this yet. Perhaps it's justdoing his thing.

Navigating to this directory allows you to rename your replay files, so they don't all look like the replays in the picture above this post. Helpful if you want to download a few replays and watch them later.Originally Posted by Decency

If not, this should definitely be something to look into... that's one thing that WC3 was missing majorly.
its not possible right now short of all looking at the same computer or watching the game in sync.

Why is it that when I put my HoN resolution from 2048 x 1152 to about half that and take all settings down to Low from High and remove reflections etc (like playing gameboy on PC) my fps only goes up 10 or so?
Also which rendering technique is better, the Antriostophic 16x or whatever or Trilinear?
Why can't I download replays of matches I played?
Does anyone's replay crash sometimes?
It happens on me with some replays, it doesn't crash always at same time, but around that.
No mods, new "startup.cfg"(new "game" folder" as well)

can someone tell me why i dont have a replays folder in my game folder in my hon folder??
Do i make my own or what? Because when i try to download a replay ill click "download replay" and nothing will happen.

its not working , plus i can't find it in the place u told me to look, its not there. It won't let me make a folder called "replays" either in
C\My Documents\Heroes of Newerth\game\
Currently take your complaints to an S2 Dev if you really feel strongly about this.
Did you make sure it is in your user name?
The correct filepath is 'C:\Users\<user name>\My Documents\Heroes of Newerth\game\replays'.
Mac replays are saved in users/(user name)/Library/Application Support/Heroes of Newerth/game/replays/
in case anybody is wondering.
how do i bring back the info list ? amount of gold and ck/d after closing it down?
