is there any way to modify the .honmod without restarting the game?
Extract the modified files into the ui/ directory under game/ (create it if it's not there), then do a reloadinterfaces into the console.
So e.g. I just put game.interface and alt_info.interface in Heroes of Newerth/game/ui, updated them as needed, and did Ctrl+F8, reloadinterfaces to pick up changes (for some reason just doing reloadinterface alt_info doesn't work).
why is it that this mod just doesn't work with me, even without other mods on?
In my opinion, this mod should be banned.
Sure, the advantage is not that big at all, but it still is an advantage. And I really dislike modifications that give you advantages.
S2 Games need to actively ban advantageous mods before it gets out of hand, like in WoW for example.

hey guy, i have converted the LHA mod into this:
(imho it is really smooth looking now - fits perfect)
code (maybe to the best way to do it -.?):
<!-- LHA -->
<panel watch="AltInfo2Team" ontrigger="SetVisible(param==1 or param==2)" >
<panel x="1" width="-2" >
<panel height="100%" color="0 0 0 0.5" watch="AltInfo2HealthPercent AltInfo2HasMana" ontrigger="SetWidth(FtoP(min(lha_min_dmg/if(AltInfo2HasMana,lha_max_ehp_r,lha_max_ehp_m),1) ))" >
<panel height="100%" x="100%" width="1" color="black" />
</panel>
</panel>
</panel>

this mod does not even help you time your last hits properly which in my opinion is the most important part of last hitting. it is an advantage but not ban worthy
How does this look when the creep's HP is below the last hit threshold? My motivation with the tick bars was basically to not take up any extra room, but be unambiguous no matter where the creep's hp happened to be.
Pretty much. It's helpful if you already know how to keep track of the rate at which the creep is taking damage and doing the right timing with respect to that; just gives you an easy way to gauge what your damage is. It's not much of anything on its own without that, unless you have overwhelming base damage or something.
With regard to removing this mod, it technically doesn't provide the user with any information they could not access anyway. You always have access to creep HP (and EHP) values, and how much damage you do.
However the mod is advantageous since it's quicker than you clicking on every creep to see how much HP it has.
I'm on the fence on this one.
Seems to be an interesting mod though.
atMU, your mod has a wierd glitch where sometimes it will report a widely inaccurate last hit range on ranged creeps.
