Absolutely! I only see the positives!
I'm a negative nancy and I say no.
A perfect way to help ease the steep learning curve for new players is to implement and introduce a new A.I. game mode (or update the existing practice mode with the ability to disable the 'test' function). This will obviously include A.I. hero opponents which will allow players to be introduced to the game mechanics of an entire match with opposing or allied, artificially intelligent heroes and partially experience the co-op greatness that HoN has to offer before jumping in with other players.
In addition, this mode will not only offer you to be able to have A.I. heroes but you may also invite friends to join you as well so that not every game in A.I. (practice?) mode is played solo. Hopefully, if this game mode is ever made, I envision an option that will let players adjust A.I. difficultly settings as well.
I understand that this is asking a lot, because constructing an A.I. for heroes to replicate player behaviors and game-play tactics must be an enormous task on its own; let alone creating different difficultly settings. I feel that the community might agree with me though that having this mode around will familiarize players with the game better than just having a sandbox arena.
Of course, some could also argue that they could simply learn how to play the game effectively by jumping straight in with other players in "Noob Only" matches. I find that this method usually proves to be much of the opposite other than the desired "learning experience" that many would hope for. Instead we find ourselves with a few other results: an unhappy gamer and frustrated teammates, a sour taste to new players checking out the HoN game, and/or the strengthening of an elitist culture of players that already surround the DotA genre.
Let's not make HoN intimidating to people checking it out, because Heroes of Newerth is honestly a beautifully made, and outstanding game that deserves to see the spotlight by welcoming new players and dota veterans alike.![]()

I could be wrong, but I believe that dota has an A.I. version where the A.I Heroes deny sometimes. A great way for a new player to learn.
This has been proposed already a few times, by myself included. I think it's a great idea, but some people on here seem to disagree for no good reason.
Exactly. I have yet too see anyone post a good reason why they shouldn't make this game mode other than "it would take away development time for more pressing issues". If I were in the S2 development team, I know making a game that would appeal to the gaming community as a whole would be my number one priority. If your argument is that balance issues should be focused on other than a new game mode, we all know that these issues can always be altered through patches. Yet again I'll state that making this mode would not only be huge step in the right direction to attract more casual players but it would also make a safe and welcoming learning ground for new players looking for a great "weekend" multiplayer experience.

the later maps of dota a.ii definetly included ganking in their programming.
also, i remember a function where you could command the computer players on your team to gank/push/defend etc. tbh it was quite impressive.

I had no idea. I remember that the A.I. would also ping the map when the base was under attack. I always thought that was kind of cool as well.
oh yeah. there were heaps of little funky things, especially with specific heroes that made me go
though one thing id like to see is an a.i that can ask questions lol. like when it detects more than one-two heroes attacking you in your lane it pops up "do you need help?" and you type y or n and they tp to help you.
yus plz.
Obviously they're working on it, but it's low on their list of things to do...
I'd personally would like to see this mode released in tandem with the official retail version.
I agree.
New players should actually go through the tutorial as well, it's really not that bad (I went through it out of boredom)
Checkmate.
Bump-
Though it does seem like something that will take a while to develop. That is how I got decent at DotA. I think it would help a lot for this as well.
