    Swedish

Hello there everybody! I and a friend of mine (Epicbo here on these forums) are now working on a Swedish translation of HoN.

Everything is going pretty fine, but there are some questions left unanswered which I would like people to answer (not only Swedish):

Should we translate the names of heroes? We think that the best answer for this question is "no", to not create confusion amongst players from different countries. The same applies to spells and other names. What do you think?

Is there any Swedish people out here on these forums that would like to test the translation when we've come a bit further in the progress? It would be very nice to get some feedback and even some corrections from people who may have better ideas, if you know what I mean.

And one more question: why don't the "Swedish" letters ÅÄ & Ö work? They seem to work in the main menu and on buttons and such, and also in the create game menu, but in the chat client they don't work. They also don't work on popup windows, like "Disconnected" windows. Instead of ÅÄÖ I always see these strange boxes. Help is appreciated!

I'll update this thread with more info and maybe some new questions as our work progresses further. It may take a while to do all this it seems, but we'll finish this project, is what we've decided. We really would like to see this Swedish translation in the full game when it's released because we think it's fun with our native language and that it may be good for some players with "decent" English skills. That's why this translation is our mission.

    Thanks for the interest.

    Latest status updates:
client_messages - Done, but with problems - åäö doesn't work! Looking for solutions...
entities - haven't begun the work there
    game_messages - same as entities
interface - more than half of the document is finished
Swedish flag fixed on main menu, but at the moment it replaces the greyed out Chinese one

    I'll support you.
And i think that the names of the heroes will be best if they remain the same.

As for your question.. About hero names..

I personally have always hated it if translations of game alter the names, because it often causes lot of confusion overall, was it discussion about classes, guides and pretty much anything where the names appear..

So as my personal opinion, no.. You shouldn't change the names of heroes, items and spells.. To avoid any extra confusion

Thanks Deltae and Dororo. Exactly my opinion too. Think I'll keep the hero names then, because they would just sound dumb in Swedish.

    As Deltae mentioned;
I think it's best to let them remain the same. In the fact that it could create confusion when one is reading guides, for example.

Behemoth is more accurately "Jätte" than "Flodhäst"

Okay! Well, maybe you could "test" the translation when it's more "finished"? We would need some "beta testers" to ensure the quality!

And yeah, we will translate the descriptions.
