Full stop
Period
So I was chatting with a British friend today at work and she called a period (one of these guys . <-) a "full stop". Now, I was familiar with many discrepancies between British and American terminology. Calling a bathroom "the loo", calling an apartment "a flat", calling an elevator "a lift", and calling British cooking "good"; but I was unaware of this one and I called shenanigans!
So HoN OT forum, Full stop or period?
never heard of full stop.
i almost always say full stop (im from Australia.)
in fact i only ever say period when referring to a menstrual cycle... ive said period a few times referring to a full stop.
This is actually the first time I've ever heard full stop, and I'm not from America. It sounds awfully retarded.

Calling a bathroom "the loo"
No. I am English and if anybody seriously says "the loo" they get laughed at.
Apart from the full stop.

It's ok, I figured it was gonna be way over most poeples heads anyway.
what would you say if you're trying to make a point? like, "the beer is good, period!"
"the beer is good, full stop!"
"the beer is good, exclamation!"

@ Nathanus: that's a different use of the word "period", though you can substitute it for "full stop" if you really want. Whilst both are used for punctuation they are also used to replace the term "end of discussion".
e.g. "This ale is better than any of your rubbish American lager, end of discussion/period/full stop!"
Oh, the wonders of the English language.
