- +10 Hit point regeneration
- 70% chance to block 50 (25) damage
Active Ability - Pain Suppression:
For 5 seconds your chance to block dmg is 100% (0 Mana, 25s Cooldown)
+300 Hit points
+9 Hit point regeneration
70% chance to block 40 (20) damage
So the benefit from combining the items are:
+1 Hit point regeneration
+ Slightly better dmg block
I think the armor and higher reg makes CHotBL actually a good item, while HotBL isn't really worth it's item slot any longer (after the 25 minute mark).
Pain Suppression is only a small buff aka doesn't really do much (just saying this, because I believe people may think it's strong).

edit) PS: The recipe could be made "one per team" only. Not only would that fit the item theme and be kinda cool (1 captain/champion per team), it also would remove any urge to cry about it's imbaness (just an idea).-------------------->
edit2) Thinking about it I came to the conclusion that the recipe price definitely must be higher... so I raised it from 225 to 625.
I would suggest improving it a little bit. In particular, I would suggest that you keep the full bonus from Helm of the Victim (+5 Armor, +3 HP/sec) but raise the recipe cost a bit. As it is, the upgrade is extremely mediocre for the cost, and you actually lose an incredible amount of benefits by buying the recipe.
Same Items, but increase recipe cost to 425 (to account for the fact that it actually gives you an upgrade now).
Increase passive bonus to +10 armor, +12 HP/sec regeneration.
Leave the block upgrade and the active ability as is (they are accounted for by the recipe cost).
Total cost is now 3600, and it is a strict upgrade to HotBL. I would also suggest simply "Champion's Helm" as a better name, though that's just because including the "otBL" part feels excessive.
agree with good day to die. You shouldn't lose anything on upgrade. If you make it like that it would be worth will.
@GoodDayToDie and derek13: You know that HoBL gives only 6 hp reg? You don't lose anything from combining the items, just re-read it carefully
Increasing the armor to 10 lol... no way. Believe me, it's (most likely) balanced the way it is right now.
"Champion's Helm" is probably not a bad idea, thx.
Numbers need SIGNIFICANT changes. HotV by itself gives armor and HP regen greater than what you gain by making the recipe. That extra armor really does help more than the damage block. Make it give +5 armor and +3 HP regen for making the item instead of what you currently have and it becomes a much better late game item.
You guys are aware that +10 armor in a single item costs 1400gold? You guys know how effective armor is? I guess not
Icon is nice, but no. HotBL is strong enough the way it is, and having a late game block item would mess up with the carries. Anyway, blademail is better (and doesn't involves lots of stats).
I really like this additional suggestion, altho it has "Tower-dive 2010" written all over it
But yeah, making HotBL a bit more viable late-game is nessecary, so T-up.
yes because, zeph & legionaire as well as electrican needs more damage soaking items.
eeh i feel like the 5 seconds of pure invincibility takes alot away from aoe ult nukers that make up alot of the game, making it pretty imba. Either make the cd and cost alot more or shorten the duration of the buff, or make the damage taken limited to a number of blows.
If you know the enemy and know yourself you need not fear the results of a hundred battles.
