Haha alot of heroes can actually go mid as long as they control runes. I've even seen scout and madman players do this quite successfully. Now I did mention that soloing with Electrician is rare due to his immense power with a lane partner, but if for some reason you had no other choice, you could solo him, the key is to be aggresive. I know it's a rather interesting concept so once replays are enabled I will gladly show you what I mean.

I quit like how you write your guides... they are very informational, you direct the readers attention to what is important and you keep it concise. Everything a guide writer should strive for... GJ!

P.S. why is this gonna be your last guide? (we all know it won't be) =]

Just tried out Elec for the first time today, and I must say he's strong in the laning phase. We got around 5 kills before 10 min (Devourer was my partner against scout and madman). However we had a leaver and sadly lost the match.

Haha ty man but I am a pretty busy person. Besides HoN and Cod4 I have to keep up with work and my relationships.

With that being said though I hope I have inspired some of you to write your own hero guides. A few things that I think are mandatory for a good guide:

    1) individual skill analysis

    2) core hero analysis. This is something that is strictly unique to my guide but I would highly recommend to all guide writers. You can know alot about a hero from his base stats/stat gain and the type of skillset he has.

    3) Skill builds with justifications. In my electrician guide I completely believe that there is no other way to skill electrician. If there are alternatives (in my soulstealer guide with dread for example) I modify my skill build with explanations why skill x can be taken sooner or later.

    4) This is the last one, some may think it is common sense, but other guides often neglect this. Have some flexibility in your item build. In this guide, I clearly address why Frostfield plate is vastly superior to sacrifical stone. I address that bottle, fortified bracers and shaman's headdress are optional and when to get them. In my soulstealer guide I throw out alternatives for initation/escape, in the form of assassin's shroud/portal key.

Believe me, I originally intended Soulstealer to be my last guide. After I played some games with electrician and analyzed his skills thoroughly, it occured to me just how disgustingly powerful the hero was. It was imo mandatory information that I had to share with the community.

What about Necronomicon? Mana burn gives him a bit more damage, and the +ms aura works pretty well with purge, and everyone and their mother in this game plays invis heroes. And obviously the creeps get a few hits in while you're latched on.

It is a strong item but unfortunately it is bugged right now and in many cases truesight doesn't work for whatever reason. Once it is fixed I fully intend to try out puzzlebox as Electrician, it is for sure something on my "to-do" list. But for now, no.

Wow, just tried elec out, quite a strong hero w/ just enhanced marchers. Bottle is great if no one else is going to use runes. I think I only ran out of mana one time the entire game, and frostfield was great later on.

Sac. Stone is pointless, you have plenty of mana for your skills, you shouldn't be ksing since you can't spam nukes OR carry, but you are a serious threat w/ how easily you can be tankable and disable FOR your carry.

Great guide, one of my favorite heros by far. As you said not for the player who likes to ks. I've never tried shivas on him, interesting choice. I'll have to give it a go next time I play him. (usually go vanguard enhanced marchers and heart). However I initiate with who I play with, so I need a more tanking build.

I would definately put it down as a situational option though. Early-Midgame you are very strong in ganks. But in big 5v5 fights you are going to try disable a KEY player in their hero lineup.

Your goal by disabling him will be to kill him not to just make them waste a stun (or not thunderbringer's nuke cancels and would by no means be a waste with the rod spell triggering in a nice big aoe)

Key heroes could be Big AoE iniators like slither/soulstealer/tempest or just a hard carry thats stacked with items but doesnt have shrunken head or it just wore off.

Quick question - can you purge off Jereziah's Protective Charm or Shrunken Head? I know you can Nullfire Jereziahi, but I haven't had an opportunity to test it yet with purge.

    Great guide, by the way.

You can cleanse away the protective charm and jereziah's ult (although with his ult its hard to tell since its on for such a short time)

I like the guide with the exception of two things- Bottle and Frostfield Plate. While yes, roaming gankers should bottle, having multiple bottles on your team tends to lead to congestion when it comes to rune control, and while as you said any hero who can control runes can do ok in mid, I think electrician is a less then ideal solo and his power as a lane partner overshadows any solo capability. I would certainly hope that someone else on my team would have and use bottle

On the subject of Frostfield plate I would argue that while Electrician obviously can farm acceptably, he certainly does not excel at it compared to many heroes, nor should he be farming up 4000 gold items when all he needs to be effective is to hit Q.

Instead of Frostfield I would suggest getting Stormspirit to add to Electrician's bastion of disable since:
-electrician is least likely to die and thus be able to reuse the storm spirit multiple times in battle due to its ~small CD
-give electrician needed mana regen and intel to really get good use from his mana shield, since there are times when you get dropped below the point where you can use absorption to recharge
-gives you added MS to help with the chase, which is something you will spend alot of time doing as elec
-give you a near overlap of disable/snare, by using storm, then grip, then cleanse, rinse repeat
-also allows you to 'hold' your cleanse back sometimes if you want to use it to remove a particular buff/debuff, rather then being forced to use it as a raw snare

Great guide, thanks alot! I have recently discovered Electrician and realized how good he is and fun to play.

    I got some questions.

    1. I always build Sorcery Ring on him. While I know Bottle is another solution for mana problems, and that Energy Absorption is really good when needing mana, I feel that as much mana is possible is best for him, both against Magebane and in team battle situations. If he can use Energy Absorption and Sorcery Ring all the time, he's just so much sturdier, since he relies so much on mana. Also, since you're supposed to be the ganking type/supporter etc, you often surround yourself with all your allies and supporting them with mana while you also support them with Cleansing Shock couldn't be a bad thing. (lol, I didn't know first the name of his ulti, so I checked the OP post, and I think "Cleaning Shock" is kind of a funny miswriting. xD)

    2. If you're the tanking/disable/supporter-type that's not supposed to get kills, can't you just massbuy tanking items? That's what I understand, but how about Vanguard? (Forgot what it's called in HoN) With Shaman's Headdress, Vanguard, Sorcery Ring, Mana Shield and Energy Absorption, can ANYTHING kill you?

    3. You mention how Frostfield Plate gives you a nice boost to farming, but is it really worth it? I mean you have normal attack as well as your AoE damage. With both ulti and Static Grip, you won't have problems catching your opponents, so that goes that function to waste. I mean for a defensive item (against physical), and "only" farming, ain't it a bit expensive?

    4. Also I usually spec Mana Shield first and then leave it on all game. xD Which might not be that smart, but it gets good as soon as it hits lvl 2-3, and while I lose alot of harassing capability doing so, I like being sturdy even early on. I'll still be able to disable them good and let my ally harass them, and while I lose some damage, I instead get alot of survivability so it still gives lane control.

    5. Would Stormspirit be nice on him? I just think that buying Guinsoo's (what's it called again in HoN) is a little much for a disable while you already got a disable and a slow.
Think of going in first in a team battle with Mana Shield, and Eul's the most dangerous hero, then Purge the least threating, and Static Grip the last one, and just watch my team storm in and kill them. xD

    6. How about any offensive item on him? Things like critical strike, or Codex? First time playing Elec I thought he was int so I thought about Codex but I didn't buy it...
But I mean since he's Str that excels in defensiveness but lacks in offensiveness, could Codex be even slightly viable? xD

Sorry for writing so much, and if I do alot of stupid choices (I mean this contradicts alot of your guide), then I may have a whole different playstyle, or lack knowledge in items and spells. :P

Thank you very much for the great guide. I have had great success so far using electrician and did not realize his full potential. Item guide is also greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work!

    K reply time:

@ rawrpewpew: Electrician's role in team battles is to tank, nothing more, nothing less. I mentioned that static grip is a skill extremely favored toward ganks and laning.

Remember what I said early in my guide? Some people say Electrician is weak in team battles. I say, when you've ganked them 10 times before the first battle, it doesn't matter.

Of course the differences in our logic is simple, you believe that Electrician is a tank+disabler in team fights. I find static grip rather much weaker in team fights, so I build him to tank. It's like pollywog players, do they go shrunken head so that they can channel shackles for the whole duration? I don't think so.

@ Sabre: well as I mentioned before I am a rather old fashioned player who has basically never gotten Stormspirit over Kuldra. Tbh I am not going to comment on SS until I try it for myself, if I ever get around to it

Btw with all the ganking I do as Electrician I typically farm frostfield plate in 32-40 mins, which I consider acceptable by most standards.

And at your first point considering Elec solo, yes I completely agree with you, but let's face it, sometimes you will pub and your team will draft like headless chickens. Although rare, you may have to man up and take the solo lane.

@Spiriax: Thx for the typo I missed it. Well Electrician is not Jereziah or even behemoth, his spells don't cost alot of mana and he has high base int, so I don't find ring of sorcery required whatsoever.

Electrician's tanking ability comes in the form of electric shield and energy absorption. Of course we skill electric shield mid game, resulting in just energy absorption. This is why we take shaman's headdress if nukes are a threat. Throwing helm of the black legion on top of that is overkill. Electrician isn't made of money :P

Frostfield plate just isn't for the farming. It is a powerful aoe snare/nuke that reduces physical dps of all enemies in the aura (which should be everyone). It gives a nice armor bonus so your issues in physical survivability, when backed up by electric shield, are basically solved permanently.

Yea your method of skilling is bad, no offense. You would have to read my guide again to know why I skill Electrician the way I do.

Meh as an old school competitive player I hate euls/storm spirit. I will comment on it when I get around to using it.

Nah no offense items at all, unless you consider Kuldra or frostwolf skull offensive items.

But by ganking and farming up frostfield, however, I suspect you're implying then that electrician gets the kills, whereas I would say that he is a supremely unideal guy to be lasthitting kills with energy absorption etc. Every time I suit up elec I resign myself to 2-5 kills a game tops. SS is very inexpensive and suits electrican's purposes fine.

I also would not discard Helm of the Black Legion out of hand. Given some early success (bloodlust and double tap in a pub) I purchased it very early and was, as you might expect, underwhelmed by its use. But lategame it allows electrician to take on a near infinite number of creeps with his shield and absorption, seemed very useful for pushing and drawing creep attacks to myself to keep them off allies. I might consider it a luxury item for improverished electricians.

Actually not really. I have yet to play a game as elec where my kills are over half of what my assists are. I do have rather solid experience at carrying, which is when I'm not ganking, I find myself farming lanes with relative ease. That's where the 32-40 min enhanced marchers shaman's headdress frostfield plate comes from. Like I said earlier I will post replays when they enabled. If I found last hitting kills to be a good idea i'd be suggesting sac. stone, not frostplate.

Personally I just don't like SS. I mean if PP has two disables and an ult that can trap to boot, you'd think SS would be good for him, but it turns out to be underwhelming on him. Everytime I have seen SS in a game I have not been particularly impressed by the results. That's just me though.

By late game creeps die so fast to nukes and the like it hardly matters. Early in the game Shaman's Headdress is almost certainly superior to Helm of the Black Legion.

    Thanks for your comments.

Just bumping this to say it's an awesome guide. I didn't even realize grip did AOE dmg during its duration before.

Yeah it looks to me like his three major items are Puzzlebox, Kuldra, and Frostfield. He can pick any of them he thinks is best.
