anyone know what is good lategame itemwise for him? I mean totem and posthaste/phase is fine and all but, anyone know any other good items to get?

Good guide overall, but I agree with glorify in that you should open with ult in team battles. Just use some common sense on whether the battle will last. If you think they are staying to fight, they probably are. Even if they back off half way after taking massive damage from your ult + nukes, your team will surely catch 2-3 of them.
Also his ult reveals invis in HoN. At least your team won't get gayed by a well placed cloud or scout messing up your casters in the back. :/
after completing your icon of goddess, you can either finish staff of masters or sacrificial heart, or you can get a totem of kuldra or stormspirit depending on your gold.Originally Posted by Lexio

Thank you. I have done the sac heart before but I forgot about staff of masters and stormspirit. So many items so little time in games to get them all.

Is Sacrificial Stone a good choice to get for Thunderbringer is youre getting quite a few good kills?

Restoration stone is better than staff of masters, really, Staff of masters doesn't really boost your ulti by a lot and you don't need the hp/mana by the time you'd get it. Better go for restoration stone for double ulti.

Defiler is only a threat if she's better at nuking than you are, or if she's farmed much more.
Blast of Lightning is superior to Wave of Death for lane harassment. Used properly, Defiler will be forced out of the lane very rapidly. It's a good matchup, but Thunderbringer should come out ahead.
This discussion is useless....
The only items Thunderbringer needs:
Early game:
Runes of blight x 3
Talisman of Exile
Work your way up to Enhanced Marchers(extra dam and armor) as well as u need a manatube very fast.
Mid Game u should have :
Enhanced Marchers
Sustainer
Glowstone(Mana and HP)
The best thing to go for is the Sacrificial Heart: +450 Hit Points, +400 Mana, +200% Mana Regeneration, +6 HP Regeneration. You gain 2 hp/mp extra regren per second for each charge. So if you are a killer you can have tons of charges and thus never go out of mana. after 6/7 charges you can just spam chain lightning without even seeing it go down.
After the Heart you can go for the Helm of the Legion for some armor etc. Or just go for the staff of the master wich actually increases the Thunderbringers ulti
I've been playing him alot recently, and I HATE it when I intiate with my ult and everyone just stands there doing nothing.
also, its fun going ulti -> refreshers orb -> ulti and seeing hat-tricks popping up

You are meant to, since it reveals the position of all the enemy heroes, so you know exactly whether that behemoth is going to blink into or not (obviously after you initiated, he is not going to.. )
Initiating with the ult is a valid strategy for it stops all blink initiators and gives you vision of all the enemies. If you need to focus fire a certain hero, this makes it much easier. I am assuming you have never played more competitive DotA, which is probably why you think this is a joke.
What about platemail on him? I sometimes get it after 2x bracer, marcher, glowstone if the other team has a lot of physical damage and my team doesnt have a lot of +armor auras..
