    Failed to load client library

    Everytime I try and open HoN it comes up with the command promot saying:

    Does anyone know what the problem is? or how to fix it?

    I'm getting the same error, has anyone figured this out yet? I think problem is something about Windows 8.

    This is how I fixed it (windows 8):
    1) On your desktop right-click my computer and press properties.
    2) Go to advanced configuration
    3) Go to the advanced tab
    4) Press environment variables
    5) Find path in the system variables and select it
    6) Press edit
    7) Add the line ";D:\Program Files (x86)\Heroes of Newerth\game" (or the heroes of newerth\game equivalent of your game directory) <note: do not forget the semicolon at the start of each addition>

    8) Start HoN and enjoy

    I've been having this problem too. I fixed it by running it in compatibility mode with Windows XP SP3.

    If you don't know how to do that:
    1) right click shortcut
    2) go to compatibility tab
    3) Check box that says "Run this in compatibility mode for"
    4) click drop down menu, select Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
    5) apply/hit ok
