Reverse Mode Tournament. Do it.
(Where each team picks the opposing team's heroes, and if possible, in draft/alternating picks. This could be after bans, where counterintuitively, teams would ban the worst heroes possible to avoid getting them.)
What would the worst 5v5 makeup be in your opinion? I've tried hard thinking of a good 10 heroes to pit against each other, but keep stumbling across heroes that are 'not as useless as I want them to be'.
Rampage + Warbeast come to mind, as well as any hero played by Thebster.
Certainly strats would be vastly deeper than picking the "worst five" heroes. You would need to pick:
- ultra-fail lanes
- heroes that you know your opponent cannot play well
- bad heroes that do not serve as counters to other bad heroes (i.e. can't give them Zephyr if you are getting mass melee)
- possibly even some decent heroes who require very particular lineup considerations, sans those considerations (i.e. Glacius with a bunch of heroes who can't utilize mana well)
- no discernible lineup synergy
Dark Lady, Chronos, Night Hound, Scout, Sand Wraith. ?
But yeah, this is kind of dumb. -.-
Yes? Sand Wraith without farm is almost useless, and assuming the other team attempts the same all melee all carry strategy his early game damage is terrible.
Dual melee versus dual melee lanes are pretty interesting, though.
Sounds like a fun concept i might do a random draft like this with outpicked just to look at heroes in a new way.

Devourer
Nymph
Glacius
Moon Queen
War Beast
or
Soulstealer
Sand Wraith
Chronos
Vindicator
Dark Lady
Not a fan. I don't think it would be fun playing with crap heroes and terrible lanes.
Soulstealer is a great mid, he doesn?t need to rely on anyone else to get great farm mid, and there?s a high chance the enemy will have a terrible mid
Vindicator is very playable as support, and can babysit Sand wraith
Chronos needs no farm, he can do relatively well the moment he hits level 16 by just ultiing, hitting for a bit and then getting some lucky stuns
if reverse mode tourny would be fun to watch, then any mode tourny would be fun to watch besides maybe em.
