    Aether (Anti-Carry, Supportive)

Even though that this is my second hero suggestion, I still would like to direct anyone to my first attempt by the use of my signature, since I feel that The Tall Man isn't ready to go away yet.

    Background

Carrying similar dimensional abilities such as Andromeda, Aether appeared from the heavens above Newerth, rushing to the Legion's aid and did not hesitate to instantly enter the battlefields and interrupt the Hellbourne beings with his cosmic powers.

Surprising both forces, he swept through Hellbourne's vicious creatures and continues to do so. Upon being asked by Legion heroes to the question of why, he simply responded with referring to Hellbourne as "The greatest disturbance in Newerth."

    Concept Summary

    Stellar Wind:

Unleashes 2 waves of stellar wind, which appear at first to the left and right side of Aether, and then travel with speed to close in on each other at the front, dealing minor damage and briefly confuses the enemy's senses.

    Red Dwarf:

Aether summons a very small red dwarf which can develop into a white dwarf if it can feed on the magic surrounding it. Traveling slow at first, the red dwarf will develop and grow with stamina and speed the more magic it gets drained. Finally, Aether
even can decide to let it fade away with an exploding flash of bright light, blinding and damaging his foes nearby.

    Buoyancy:

Manipulating the target's buoyant force furthermore, Aether is able to bless the target with extra "packs of punch" and make their form appear lighter, increasing their evasiveness.

    Back to the Past:

Concentrating on the matter, using both of his hands, Aether channels his most powerful time based spell onto the target, immobolizing it and giving him a serious memory loss, which results into losing vital combat experience and a slight moment of confusion.

    Aether's Role

A manipulator of space and time based hero. Designed to specifically be an anti carry hero.

Early game all 3 of Aether's skills are important with a lesser extend to Red Dwarf for being more situational, but nonetheless can also become powerful to use. Suggested use of spells is to spam Stellar Wind whenever possible to farm and/or chase, and to use Buoyancy as an assist spell.

At the midgame, once you basically reach level 6, whenever possible, always use Back to the Past immediately. To be more specific, either only use it when you are about to gang a hero or to just cripple a certain hero. Sometimes it's better to cast it on a ganking hero with a dangerous ultimate first in order to delay that hero a bit more before you start casting it on carry heroes. Be careful when you use it though, it has a long cooldown and it can also be interrupted either by your enemies or by your allies.

At the endgame, your ultimate continues to be very important, while Red Dwarf finally also starts showing it's full potential. Stellar Wind and Buoyancy are basically useful to use at any course of the game, so definitely keep using them as well to support your team especially.

Since Aether is a hero with a high manacost for each of his spells, obvious recommendation items for him would be intelligence based ones.

    Early game:

Mana Potion, Runes of the Blight, Talisman of Exile, Ring of the Teacher

    Mid game:

Steam Boots (Intelligence), Ring of Sorcery, Puzzle Box

    Late game:

Restoration Stone, Kuldra's Sheepstick, Sacrificial Heart

    Situational:

    Shrunken Head, Void Talisman

    Skills in Depth

    Stellar Wind:

Lending from distant stars a gas of assymmetric form, Aether unleashes 2 waves of stellar wind, affecting the target's senses because of it being extremely blurry in it's form, damaging them lightly and especially confusing their eyes.

Blurry 2 straight wind lines attack which first appear at the outer hands of Aether and then quickly close in on each other, dealing minor damage and makes affected targets dizzy, rendering them unable to control movement for a brief moment each time to regain their senses back. Instead, they will walk randomly.

    -----
    Type: AOE, Magic damage
    Target: Location
    Damage: 45/90/135/180
Movement effect: 0.50/0.75/1.00/1.25 second unable to control unit which walks to a random direction.
    Manacost: 60/75/90/105
    Cooldown: 6
Range on the 2 wind lines: At all times 500
Channeling/casting time: 0.50 to let the wind lines appear, then additionally 0.25 to cast it. Only then is Aether able to move again. If Aether is interrupted by stuns, disables etc. , the spell fails.
    -----

It's both a farming and a chasing skill. Stellar Wind first appears from Aether's both hands which then travel 500 range to each side and then quickly close in on each other, possibly even faster than Phoenix Wave or Wave of Death. It also then instantly disappears.

    Visual explanation:

    1

    2

    3

Appearing at both sides of Aether at first(1), Stellar Wind then quickly flows to the front(2), where the 2 waves will close in on each other and then eventually disappear(3).

    Red Dwarf:

Aether summons a very small red dwarf which can develop into a white dwarf if it can feed on the magic. Traveling slow at first, the Red Dwarf will develop and grow with stamina and speed the more magic it gets drained. Finally, Aether even can decide to let it fade away with an exploding flash of bright light, blinding and damaging his foes nearby. The more mana is drained, the more powerful this explosion will be.

Situational and unusual spell where the hero summons a spherical red ball which drains mana from enemy units with mana pools everytime they attack physically any target within a radius. The more mana is drained, the faster the ball can move and the more HP it grows, becoming whiter and shine more. It's true purpose comes when you right click enemy hero or creeps. Around that unit in a mediocre radius, a sudden flash light appears when the ball implodes, lowering the enemy units's accuracy for an amount of time and slightly damaging them. There is a cap of mana drained though.

    -----
    Type: Summon, AOE, Magic damage
    HP: 150
    Movement speed: 240
HP and Movement growth: For each 100 mana drained, the Red Dwarf gains 50 HP and 50% movement speed for a maximum of 350 HP and 440 movement speed.
Damage on implosion: 25/50/75/100, slight improvement if mana gets drained for 100 time each by increasing the damage by 15 each time for a total of 160.
Exploding flashing light: -30/40/50/60% miss chance, but this can be improved by 5% each time 100 mana is drained for a total of 80% miss chance.
Radius on both: 400 , But an enemy unit MUST first be right clicked before it can detonate, similar to the way Techies in DotA does by suiciding.
Exploding flashing light's accuracy effect lasts for: 7 seconds
Mana drain: For each physical attack done in the radius, and if the target(s) still has(ve) mana, 10/20/30/40 mana will be drained and absorbed into the Red Dwarf. Mana drain will ONLY activate if 10 mana is still available to drain, not anything lower than that.
Area of Effect on Mana drain: 700
    Cap on Mana drain: 100/200/300/400
    Manacost: 130/140/150/160
    Cooldown: 31
Lasts: 30 seconds unless either killed, imploded or Aether summons a new one.
    -----

On a small side note, Red Dwarf will never reveal it's location whenever it drains mana.

    Visual explanation:

Red Dwarf first starts as 1, but then gradually by use of absorbing mana grows whiter and starts shining more until it eventually has formed into a white dwarf by looking at 2(Think the red circle away then).

    Buoyancy:

Manipulating the target's buoyant force furthermore, Aether is able to bless the target with extra "packs of punch" and make their form appear lighter, increasing their evasiveness.

Buff which gives self or ally hero protecting charges from magical damage(Excluding Superior Magic type) similar to Templar Assasin from DotA and makes their form lighter, increasing their evasiveness.

    -----
    Type: Buff
Target: Ally or self cast(Excluding allied creeps)
    Manacost: 85
    Cooldown: 23
    "Packs of punch": 2/3/4/5 packs
    Evasiveness: 5%/10%/15%/20% evasion
    Both last for: 10/15/20/25 seconds
    Range: 800

    -Ultimate-

    Back to the Past:

Concentrating on the matter, using both of his hands, Aether channels his most powerful time based spell onto the target, immobolizing it and giving him a serious memory loss, which results into losing vital combat experience and a slight moment of confusion.

Holds the target immobolized first for 4 seconds, then this:

    Level 6:
-1 level plus 2.5 seconds silenced because of memory loss and confusion

    Level 11:
-2 levels plus 3 seconds silenced because of memory loss and confusion

    Level 16:
-3 levels plus 3.5 seconds silenced because of memory loss and confusion

    -----
    Type: Superior Magic, Disable
    Target: Enemy hero
    Manacost: 200/250/300
    Cooldown: 275/250/225
Immobolizing lasts for: A full 4 seconds.
    Range: 625
    -----

Needs a channeling sequence, holding the target time for 4 seconds to activate, otherwise it is a failed ultimate. Would be useless most of the time in 5v5 but devastating at lower PvP's.

Like Succubus's Hold, allies can attack the enemy, but the spell would fail if the target dies for whatever reason before channeling would be complete, or if Aether is interrupted by stuns, disables etc. .

    Another ugly bump.

I will update with the visual design and recommendable items soon.

    EDIT:

Ouch, that hurt when I saw the 3 No votes. Is it because of the controversial ultimate? I wonder...

In any case, please leave a reply if you either voted no or yes with a short explanation as to why you did. I am really interested in your opinions.
