    Beginner-friendly options

    Good evening folks,

I think they have something like this in LoL, but I'm not 100 % sure. However, wouldn't it be great for complete beginners, if they would be able to choose if their account should start on 1200 or 1300 MMR/CMR/PSR, rather than 1500 MMR/CMR/PSR. I'm sure there are lots of people (like myself ;P), who gets blinded by greed for MMR, but i honestly do believe that some rather would choose to start on a lower level, to be able to gradually learn the game. What do you think?

This way they also avoid smurfs....

Why would someone want to start at 1300 ?

They will always choose 1500 because they will say they played DotA or other shits. Or they are in the top tier of Modern Warfare )) Nobody will take 1300 because they will hear it's hard to get out from that bracket.

With no offense, what you suggest is like getting in an escaping boat , and make few holes so the journey will get harder

Having players start at 1500 means they'll more likely see players that they can learn off of, especially after getting verified. Sure, 1500s are players who lack a lot, but if they can stay 1500, at least their habits are a lot better than those in the 1200-1300s.

Changing the starting number will not affect anything, if you make the starting number 1200, then 1200 will be the new 1500.
Anyway, In LoL they start without any rating, and when they reach a certain level they play for the rating (if im not mistaken).

I still think that the idea of new players starting at 0 and only gaining MMR for wins (not losing any for losses) until some treshold (say 1000) is one of the best to sort out the current 1400-1600 mess when people start at 1500.

here's another question, do we really need to display MMR at the unverified phase?

HoN just needs a bigger player base.
No need for these MMR/TSR, 1300-1500 start arguments etc.

    It will fix everything.

The more chances for douches to stomp 1300's the more chaos will happen lol.
A comfortable old age is the reward of a well-spent youth. Instead of its bringing sad and melancholy prospects of decay, it would give us hopes of eternal youth in a better world.

It seems like a really good idea on paper, its just there are so many flaws to it (most have been mentioned above). Some of these being :
    · Mean people that would absolutely stomp because they would set their rating to 1200/1300 etc.
    · People would be hitting the minimum MMR rating a lot easier. I know many people that started at 1500, and nearly instantly went down to 1200 or 1300. If this trend was to continue, people would be hitting 1000 MMR like there was no tomorrow.
    · Once people do improve, they will be at say, 1300, instead of being at 1500, where it is a lot easier to climb from there.
I am out of ideas, but you get the point :\
