Suicide
Solo mid (employing the strategy I detailed here: http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/sh...mpest-Solo-Mid )
Tri-lane
Now that lock pick is resulting in some less "cookie cutter" or "conventional" team lineups, I've been thinking a lot about other teams that synergize reasonably well.
Midas isn't exactly the strongest suicide laner, but at least he has an escape mechanism and long range nukes to get last hits and he is a strength hero so he's a bit more durable.
The link I posted gives more information about the Tempest solo mid, but the main idea is to deny their mid xp/farm while using your elementals to stack jungle camps for draconis - requires a LOT of coordination/micro.
The beauty of the trilane is that its power is in superior plays of positioning, rather than it's ability to just nuke a single target down extremely quickly. Why is this important? Because it allows Draconis to spend early levels in blazing flight and his passive, rather than having to max his nuke early on to get kills. This will allow Draconis to transition seamlessly into an extremely strong farmer with blazing flight and fiery barrage right as he hits level 7, able to clear the stacked jungle (thanks to tempest) very quickly and mana-effeciently.
When it comes to the teamfighting and towerpushing phase, the strength of this lineup is quite apparent. The AoE damage output is staggering, and the teamfights can start fast and early. Most if not all of these heroes excel at forcing advantageous positioning before and during engagements. There is a lot of pushing power with these heroes without sacrificing in other areas.
So, let me know what your thoughts are. What heroes might you have to watch out for? What strategies would this be weak/strong against?
Thanks!
Tempest mid seems extremely forced, he's just a weak 1v1 hero with no rune control ability whatsoever. Stacking camps with his elementals seems like a good idea in theory, but do you have someone who can actually pull this off while managing to not lose mid with Tempest?
You can't expect any farm or even full xp on Midas solo top. Engineer and Behemoth are going to get absolutely nothing, and won't have portal keys or even level 2 ults until later on in the game.
This strategy basically relies on Draconis to get monstrous farm and take over the game, but whoever is in the opposing team's short lane is also going to have free farm. The biggest problem I see is Tempest mid, he's going to lose horribly 80% of the time and won't farm as fast as he would in the jungle.
i think u need realy good players to be able to make this work, also i dont like engi and behe not being able to farm pk.
Thoughts on Tempest suicide (not uncommon) and Midas mid? Still get to stack ancients at least.
Also, early kills in the trilane will supplement the poor farm of behe/engi and then early towers/strong teamfights get them even closer to their PKs. Also, once Drac starts powerjungling the lanes open up for behe to farm his PK.
But his trilane is more focused on playing passive since drac is leveling his flight and passive to farm the stacked jungle.
Change midas out, he really isn't needed and you can get a bubbles/hag instead. Bubbles helps lock people in engi/temp ult aoe, hags just a great semi-carry and her ult synergizes great with the team as well.
I'm fairly confident that I could atleast make the Tempest mid work. Big weakness in the line-up is that it is somewhat well focused on the teamfight, wanting to accomplish their big ultimates. When those are down, they will be relatively vulnerable.
Hopefully not going too far off-topic here but in your other post regarding Tempest stacking all the camps simultaneously using micros and queued commands.
Just wanted to know what your success rate was when doing this? Did you manage to pull it off every time? Ive tried in practice mode and get about 1 in 3![]()
