Hi. I saw angrytestie playing shadowblade the other day and he used his ulti on his own illusions spawned from geobane. The wierd thing was that he actually gained substantially more agility from ulting the illusions instead of ulting himself. Answers appreciated![]()
When ulting himself, Shadowblade only gains stats based on his stat not counting stats gained from his ultimate.
When ulting another hero, Shadowblade gains stats based on EVERYTHING (items and buffs included).
Illusions count as another hero!
For example, say Shadowblade has 100 Agility prior to casting ultimate.
He then casts it on himself. He now has 100 + 40 agility.
His illusions will have 140 agility.
If he casts it on an illusion he will gain 140*.4 = 56 agility.
Shadowblade will now have 100 + 56 agility.
His illusions will now have 156 agility.
If he casts it on an illusion again he will gain 156*.4 = 62.5 agility.
Shadowblade will now have 100 + 62.5 agility.
Before you start thinking "omg infinite stats", this is a geometric series with r < 1. It therefore converges to a non-infinite value.
a + ar + ar^2 + ar^3 + ... + ar^n = a*(1-r^n)/(1-r)
a = starting agility (for example, 100)
r = 0.4
maximum agility after infinite casts = 100*(1-0)/(1-.4) = 166.7
One cast of your ultimate gains 40% of stats.
An infinite number of ultimates gains only 66.7% of stats.
As you can see from the first example this converges very quickly. After just two uses you are at 162.5 stats... 97.5% of final value!

OMG, my friend is learning maths for a reparation test and i am helping him... and i tought him this like half an hour ago ^^
but anyway, isnt this kind of unintended? i think it should be adressed somehow, stacking stats out of yourself is quite weird alone, not even if it is usually the best option avialable...

Well you can have your teammate buy a bunch of heavy stat items and then you can ult them...the hero is gonna have a lot of ways to gain stats, I think it should be left alone.

His Ult will be on cooldown
Not sure if it's just visual or not but the buff doesn't go up from 127.
The highest I reached in a real MM game was 125, and that was just ridiculous. I reached +125 strength and I was basically unkillable.
The cap is indeed 127.
This applies to agi and int as well, not just str.Code:<state name="State_ShadowBlade_Ability4_Strength" icon="icon.tga" passiveeffect="effects/passivestr.effect" displaylevel="true" propagatetoillusions="true" strengthpercharge="1" maxcharges="127" modifierkey="copystr" effecttype="" > <onframe /> </state>
To achieve a 127 bonus, you would need a target with 179 stats prior to utilizing the various Geometer illusion tricks.

Fun Fact:
Level 25 Shadowblade has 89.4 strength and 13.516 armor prior to any items.
Behemoth Heart: +35 str, 300 hp
Frostfield x 5: 75 armor
Gargantuan Strength: +12 str, +8 armor
Max Level Ult: +127 str (and then stash Geometers)
Grand total: 263.4 str, 5305 HP, 96.5 armor, 297 average damage
Who needs boots when you have 36021 EHP and 48.7 health regen? An enemy attacking with 400 damage and 2 attacks per second would take approximately 77 seconds to kill you!

This mechanic was changed due to balance reasons. This method no longer works.
