Arachna Unstoppable

Arachna is a very strong laner in the right 2v2 lane and against a lot of mids, but is definitely not unstoppable and not auto win mid.

Heroes [range] that can harass well and have stuns/nukes will usually beat her because she has no burst/stun, is very squishy, is slow, and nothing to push the creep wave [to get runes]. Mentioned above, Pyro is a great example. Out damages her with his spammable nukes and should have no problem getting rune control against arachna. Succubus ultimately can as well, but is a lot harder to be super effective. Shorter range, hard to argue superior rune control (other than mana intensive mez). Heartache definitely will put most exchanges in your favor, but you'll need a ton of mana to keep that up with the harass arachna can put out. Polly might be the best counter to arachna. Polly is almost autowin unless you don't know what you're doing, which is most polly's in lower brackets.

Defiler (mentioned above) can, but is definitely harder than say pyro. Tort should be fine - at worst an even lane. But again, having rune control should tip in tort favour.

Aluna, bubbles, witch, PR, FA can all hold there own. Dsham would probably work really well, in a pure 1v1 scenario - not that it'll help you actually win a 5v5 game.


Pretty much the rest of the hero pool is screwed though if they players are evenly matched. i.e. Essentially all melee, and quite a few range heroes.. which puts Arachna near the top in terms of # of heroes she should beat mid.

On another note, Pollywog Priest is my favourite hero but I only ever went mid with him once and that was because I had no choice, problem then was I had already bought a ward and upped the courier so I suffered a bit in terms of early game stats but I managed to hold my own. I guess VS arachna if you level jolt at 1 and 3 you could pretty much get her out of the lane by lvl3, I mean two jolts and she has to retreat and if your lucky her creep wave is gone and you tongue her to tank the wave. Coupled with the lane pushing power to get rune control, never thought of it!

I'd just like to stress the importance of carrying homecoming stones when playing against an Arachna. Whenever she tries to gank you, you immediately start porting away and she can't do anything to stop you.
