Yes, I am a terrible player. I would like to think I am improving. My mmr is a paltry 1320 or so.
This weekend I started playing some Arachna games, mainly calling mid and I lost 1 game out of 10 (another our team won but connection issues made me dc)
I've been up against Devourers without a problem and a Soulstealer (i harassed him out of lane and he got buddies to gank me) even when things didnt go that well i still managed to recover.
Just want to know what the feeling is on her, she seems unstoppable!
PS: I start 2xduckboots, 2xtotems, runeofblight and a ward (i place the ward on the opposite mid ramp to help me harass and make sure he doesnt go missing without my knowledge) bottle, (maybe a rune ward), one cheap stats item (soulscream or powersupply) steam/phaseboots, then shroud (to be more annoying to the enemy) then firebrand into geos followed by either shrunken head or nullstone.
Arachna is a really good 1v1 hero.. She can harass really well with het orb walking ability and her damage is pretty high.. However, she has some huge weaknesses.. She gets ganked really easy due to having no escape abilities, she also has really low hp.. And if she gets ganked a lot early, the chances of comming back into the game are rather low because she can't farm at all.. Shes one of the slowest farmers ingame. So basicly.. Its really good in low brackets because its easy to win 1v1, and mid doesn't get raped by roamers that often ^_^
Arachna is indeed a very strong mid hero, that can beat a lot of opponents (especially melees, by harassing them with q); she is easily countered though, she's one of the squishiest heroes in the game and has no escape mechanism whatsoever, she also has no farming ability (unlike, say, moon queen), so it's quite difficult to catch up with other carries that are getting more farm than you. I'd say her best time is early game, when you can score a kill evry time your ultimate is up; she can also be a very good counter to hard carries, nerfing their attack speed and movement by a huge amount.
TL;DR she is a very strong hero, but by no means unstoppable, as she can be ganked really easily.
edit: guess i was late...
Like I said I managed to recover in the games where I had a poor start. Ive also found the assassins shroud really helps for farming then running away and when you get the Geos, that Blessed Orbs helps a bit with survivability and this is also why i go shrunken after the geos.
But, I can see why in the higher brackets she wouldnt be nearly as successful, I'm guessing she would just be shut out early and kept down relentlessly?
Thanks for your thoughts
A good pyro or succubus can stop her easily mid. it's all about the hero matchup.
Please check out my hero design, and give your opinion.
I worked hard in designing this hero, and I am doing my very best to make it balanced.

The hero you pick has much less effect than the player behind it, and this holds true until high brackets where people are generaly on par with eachother - and even then, mistakes happen and you can often still come out on top with an inferior matchup. If you're good with Arachna then go ahead, pick it, and go win games with it. If you start getting stomped, try to realize your flaws and compensate accordingly, or just switch to a different hero. You shouldn't worry too much about what people say especially because in your bracket anyone can win games by themselves by abusing the other team's mistakes appropriately (and Arachna IS good at punishing people out of their place).
Arachna is unstoppable...unless they have a team to gank mid and your team is so bad that they don't even give a **** about it.
Watch my last game, got a kill at Dampeer at level 5 (they tried ganking me at level 3 with Jera) and continued winning mid. Then when Rampage came in I screamed for help and nobody came.
Right after 4 people ganked mid. Nobody called MIA or tp'd.
This is how wonderful solo queueing is sometimes. ****ING SCRUBS. Yes, I'm still mad.
Probably you think Arachna is unstoppable because of the bracket. Extremely strong mid, especially against melee. Ganking is easy with low cool down ulti for tons of gold.
But I'd imagine that will change as you climb the ladder and you start getting more ganks mid, better wards and map awareness.
even if you can't farm after a bad start, you can help a lot in teamfights with your aura and slows.
She's just another pubrape hero that can stomp mid and snowball easily in the 1400-1600 bracket with good ganks to the sidelanes due to lack of wards, communication, and game sense
But once you get into higher level play you see how outclassed she is by other ranged carries and how easily show down she is.
Her aura means you can outlast-hit most 1300s just by letting her auto-attack creep waves.

Arachna is generally defeated by a ranged hero with nukes, E.G. Defiler or Pyro. But (I cannot stress this enough) you must absolutely know the range on her skills (600 for her orb and 500 for her ult) and make sure you are out of range at all time and be able to judge the appropriate distances to keep from getting caught. Always have a tp on your hero when you play against her mid. If you get caught by her you can just tp out.
Thanks for the insight.
I understand her shortcomings but it appears to me in the trashbucket bracket shes hard to stop.
Gone from 1287 mmr to 1339 since Saturday, playing her every other game basically. (I dont play her every single game because of the law of diminishing returns)
not to mention the tip that this new feature say:homecoming stone since she has no stun.
Ok. So if you leave a game, you are sent an AIDS needle. Additionally, you get +1 disconnect AND are forced to play as Kongor next game. You can't leave his lair, except when a rune spawns. You must run directly to the rune (still as Kongor) and guard it. If you do not do this, then HoN immediately shuts down and formats your hard drive and injects you with the AIDS needle.
It probably also helps that people in that bracket don't counter Shroud which you are using as your core item.
Basically she is always going to win mid unless she gets ganked from a sidelane, so gank her from a sidelane.....
