Outliers in HoN : What makes a player exceptional? Part 2

Since the owner of this idea seems to have given up, i will take it back, to see if we can find a redundancy.

I really think this could help beginners or even players running after a specific goal.

For those of you who dont know, Outliers is a book that teaches us how success is made. Without going into much detail, i will say that one of the things you can find in the book is the 10,000 hours rule. It says that in order to reach world class level of expertise in ANY non-trivial field, ranging between basketball, guitar or tennis - one must have dedicated 10,000 hours of focused practice, some call it "deep practice".


Id like to see how the 10,000 hour rule applies to HoN. So, if you dont mind, it would be nice if you fill out this form:

Results and a small analysis of them will be know in few days/week if i can gather enough data.

I dont get it. 10.000 hours? 10.000 hours of HoN for what? And why should we fill out your form because some people have played 10.000 hours(?)

The point is not to see if you have played 10 000hours but to see an average played time in which you become good, there are also other factors in this form.

That's a little hard to say for people who had their stats reset. I think i had 1k games in closed beta or so, but i'm not sure.

Just answer an approximative time in such cases, as you answer ranges.

Off the top of my head it sounds like you'd have to have played just under 9 or so hours a day since closed beta, and I don't think anyone can fill that criteria...

People often have habits, playing usually the same amount of time a week day, same amount of time a week end day, and same amount of time a holiday day.
For people who can't figure out because of a stats reset, should try to think about this.

In this form you also answer about the hours you play a normal day, and week ends day. I though that people play during holidays like they play during week ends and hopefully i'm right.
I will also work on a formula to find an approximative total time played for each player (as the data is getting stored in an excel file)

Since average game time is around 30 min for all you can just approximate the calculation by: (number of matches played)*0.5

A thread some years ago stated a correlation between intelligence and skill level, from what I saw in the thread there actually was a connection.
