Just to clarify, AngryTestie has never been a Starcraft 2 professional. And it is beneficial to spam some for maximum efficiency depending on what race you are (for macro specific purposes). As of now there isn't a better way to keep up perfect production from Terran or Protoss without constantly checking warpgate cooldown and queuing up a second unit or spending naturally spawning larvae from Zerg without spamming. Or at least no one has come up with it yet.
With respect to APM, I don't see how having a higher APM can ever be a negative thing. If you're able to play faster, this only frees up time for you to accomplish more, and outplay other people. How you spend this APM can be efficient or inefficient but the tool of multitasking is always a plus in real time games.
To be honest none of the stats really matter all that much, I have played since about near beta and here is what i can tell anyone who wants to know:
1. A high kd ratio means they prolly kill steal alot and that is why that number high ( have seen most flints just sit and not help until the last hit, and not to use their ult but just normal hit)
2. apm means they click alot only, nothing else.
3. similar reasons for all other numbers in the game
4. psr is heavily dependent on whether team is good or not also you can kinda stat pad by playing 2 vs 5 and tricking people to playing against you (the team with 2 will usually win due to more xp and gold) and they get more psr when they win. So a player with 1800 psr may not actually be as good as a player with 1200 psr. I was tricked into a 5 vs 5 match that they all the sudden started the count down at 2 vs 5 and they both picked flint, much to their disappointment they actually lost which means even tho they had 1800+ psr and picked a cheap hero, and had 1500 gold each to start with, and gained more xp then us because they split it 2 ways instead of 5, they really didn't know how to play.
I play alot of support heroes and carries and have for along time, melee and strenth is where i lack big time. those heroes depend on team, like if you are playing glacius then you freeze and maybe ult but you rely on your team to get most the kills and make use of your mana regen, also you slow so your team can kill. But if team suck they will not go for the one you froze or slowed and they will allow their support to be attacked ( like pebbles can stun the ones attacking glacius but instead ran off alone after a hero glacius almost killed) and this is what matters in a team, it is for all not just yourself. Unfortunately you don't find that in hon, but those are the only real good players, the ones that are for the team not just stats.
Also I have carried the team using a hero like ellonia or succubus and have had as little as 60-90 apm easy, because the others just last hit but i do all the work and they constantly attack creeps or hide to stay safe until just before i make the kill.
if you go by a number go by assists

Having a low apm is bad, (unless you're a jungler) other than that, it doesn't really matter at all.
Pretty much exactly what's been said. I tend to have a really high APM but that's because I find constantly right clicking and animation cancelling makes me feel more in control of my hero. As has been said above, most higher skilled players will have a high APM but that doesn't mean you need a high APM to perform well, nor does it necessarily correlate with skill, it just tends that way generally.
as Moon once stated (former WC3 player, proberbly the best WC3 player ever in the world)
The more APM you have the better player. If you have a very high APM, you are able to handle a lot of information in your head.
BUT! there is a difference between spamming and actually use each action for good.
So hes statement is based on your APM should be high, but every action should have a good reason behind it![]()
