Quotes you Heart or Impact you

Purely out of curiosity, do you have quotes that you just, remember ever since you heard it or seen it? There must be a reason why you remember it right? Nevertheless, i've realised quotes have an incredible impact on people. It can :rall: people together, give you a new different perspective, change your beliefs and infinitely more.

So post a quote or many as you like, why it impacts you or why you like it. Try to include additional details like the person who said it, where you heard/seen the quote(s). Don't post a quote without the details. If you find a quote you like, please do discuss

"Friends can help each other. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself - and especially to feel. Or, not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That's what real love amounts to - letting a person be what he really is." - Jim Morrison

For some reason this a quote that my brain memerised including some others. Maybe because people, espicially my parents try to change who i am. Not sure why people want you to change, so they feel comfortable or satisfied or some other stupid crap? Maybe because they feel i'll be happier i dont know. I read this quote in a newspaper a few years ago, i don't memerise the whole quote. Just "A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself" because that's pretty much the whole message.

"You die 2 times. The first time is when you breath your last breath, the 2nd time whenever your name is said for the last time" ~ *dunno*

Most likely wrongly quoted, but it's one that stood me by.

“When hot guys like kids it’s because they have a healthy love of children, when creepy otaku do it’s because they are perverted lolicon.”
    - Random guy on Sankaku.

Fear of being hated by others leads one to want to be a good person... A person who wants to become powerful, so he chases "power" using the pursuit of knowledge as a stimulus... FEAR CREATES ORDER.
    - From a Manga.. can't remember which one :C

I think this game is an ant farming simulator? Wrong game, you say? Well then why the freck are there so many bugs?
Armor works differently for females. More revealing armor = more protection.
Cloning is not kidnapping. Copying is not stealing.
A winner has to speak not of the world as it is, but of the world as it should be!
    - Aizen, Bleach

I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor, dumb bastard die for his country.
I dunno why i like these, i just agree with them.

    I've always loved this one:

    "Just once before i die
I wanna climb up on a tenement sky
To dream my lungs out till I cry"

    ~Piñero

    Edit:

Just realized OP wanted details. Got it from the film 'Piñero' which is the true tale of Miguel Piñero, a Puerto Rican emerging poet and playwright from the streets during the 70s - 80s. Great film.

Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality
    - Richter Abend & Emil Castagnere from ToS2

    (Okay I lied, it's horrible)

Now the following isn't really a quote, because it's a bit too long, plus the actual english quote of it I found wasn't that interesting, but:

In FFIX, at the end of disc 2, when Brahne dies, Vivi has a really, really great inner monologue.

“Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish it's source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings.” Anais Nin.

I love it how she describes it.

    This is wonderful, thanks.

"The only real failure in life is not to be true to the best one knows."

This is probably the truest and most inspirational quote I've ever heard. If everybody understood this quote, the world would be a happy place.

The only quotes I've really ever been fond of were those from Nietzsche.

'I love those who do not know how to live for today'
'Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torment of man' - Lot of people will hate this one but I find it very accurate.

Interesting fact about Anais Nin: She had an incestuous relationship with her father during her 20s which was actually advocated by one of her therapists. This was because she was abandoned by her father when she was young and her therapist advised her to have an incestuous relationship with her father and later abandon him to feel empowered.

    True story.

Some beautiful stuff in here guys. I'll put in mine:

"Virtue is nothing else than right reason."
    -Seneca

"First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you must."
    -Epictetus

"If you work at that which is before you, following right reason seriously, vigorously, calmly, without allowing anything else to distract you, but keeping your divine part pure, as if you were bound to give it back immediately; if you hold to this, expecting nothing, but satisfied to live now according to nature, speaking heroic truth in every word that you utter, you will live happy. And there is no man able to prevent this."
    -Marcus Aurelius

Not really a big fan of the philosophy quotes, 'cause they're all a little too, uh, "quotey", y'know? That said, I'm a big fan of wordsmithery.

“Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta.”

I haven't read the book, but I really enjoy this passage, because when you read it, you try the tongue movement. It's such a nice piece of prose that I'd love to imitate one day.

Not sure where from or the exact phrasing, but: ”The worst thing you ever wrote is better than the best thing you never did.” Winning is just showing up.

Also, these are some fun quotes. Mid-high nerdiness level required.

I'd sing you a song, but
    I'm just a little hoarse.
