Well... There isn't much physical stuff, it's fun anyway. The exams are just writing essays on applying force, body mechanics, bones & muscles used and such for an example a golf swing etc. :P

OT: Not sure why it's such a big deal.

I'm pretty sure PE exams are always physical and not wirtten, at least thats how it was for me.

What he's describing is physics rather than PE

Ah. I come from the Land of the Long White Cloud.
I have no idea what PE is like in Murrica, but here they seem to do more written work (applying physics to sport). If there are physical tests, it's achieving, merit, excellence in stupid stuff like rock-climbing, snowboarding etc. If it was all physical i would borderline pass :P

Off Topic: There is two types of "PE" classes, ushaly taken with each other. There is the physical EDUCATION portion, were you look into your body, learn bones, how your body works, don't do drugs, don't have sex unless you want your dick to fall off, that type of stuff. Then there was the PHYSICAL education part, were you ran around, lifted weights, and just plain be active. I know in collage, I had my "lab" for my PE class were we went to the weight room, then our class room lectures.

On topic: I was blessed for being in a small school, so our AP bio class had about 20 or so people. We learned the theory of evolution. Even though I was say about 56% of the class went to church on Sundays that did not stop them from learning. You learn a lot when it comes to evolution. Did you guys ever hear the story of that moth in Europe? I am not 100% on it, as It was like 6 years ago I learned this. Before the industrial revolution and the population of coal. There were white moths and black moths. The white moths had a right population because they could blend in better with the white trees, one coal become popular, soot started building up on the trees, and the white moths started dwindling, and the black moths, due the camo blending in with the black treees, started becoming more popular. Then Europe got it's act together about pollution and the trees began to loose it's soot, and the white moths became more popular, while the black ones starting dwindling

Sorry if that made no since, like 6 am here and I have not gone to sleep. That story always stood out in my mind. That is survival of the fittest. You have to adapt to your ever changing environment and the people who can't, die off. There for strong lead the way, changing our race is.

I also thing that we as humans will hit a blockade, as survival of the fittest is starting to not matter anymore.

    Thanks Vahn

Haha ^ laughed reading your post about something falling off
I didn't actually fully understand the article but... Evoulution is happening all the time, even as we speak. I remember reading about some sort of bird, the shape of their beak changed over years or something and even about hybrid sharks. Earth is warming up and i would'nt be surprised if animals are adapting to survive in this generation. When people say evolution, it's more than just birds beak changing eh. The idea of creationism and monkeys evolving to humans. I hate monkeys.

Just speculating, but just because we havent seen it, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. There are examples of extremely fast evolution like the two i mentioned however not as big as monkeys to humans! Additionally, we humans like to play God and stop evolution from happening. Both societal and natural. By saying this, we humans don't experience evolution because we prevent it from happening to anything that lives close to us, including ourselves. I'd like further add, humans are very caring and we try and help the weak so they don't get extinct (animals and human races). Now i am just contradicting so i'll finish my wall of text off by saying.

Who cares. Religion vs Science. No one will ever know these big questions, maybe in the far far future. Prometheus times. Just live life to the fullest and make the most of life instead of pondering the origin of life or if we evolved from monkeys.

That's how it's like here too, actually the 16-18 P.E. course is meant to be almost as hard as the equivalent biology course. It's not what we call a "soft subject" even though a lot of people assume it is.

Yup, those are Peppered Moths. They regressed to be less melanistic state after we passed the clean air act in the 1950s. It's a great example of natural selection but unfortunately some of the early experiments were not as rigorous as we would have liked so it's an easy target for well read creationists (even though the conclusions turned to be essentially correct and have since been corroborated). It's also doesn't really convince sceptics of evolution as there's no speciation.

There's increasingly less selection within first world countries. Perhaps over the next 100 or so years we'll see things like mechanical augmentation, widespread human genetic modification, and maybe even cybernetic brains.

I can confirm and agree with this, knowing a large amount of educated religious folk (from a lot of major religions). Unfortunately the vocal less-educated bunch give the rest a bad name. As is always the case, sadly.

You'd think that the people who realize half the book is bullcrap would connect the dots and realize the rest is bullcrap as well.
The Bible does not necessarily invalidate evolution. You can argue that the days of the week are merely epochs in time (as the Bible is written and interpreted by Man) that have been retold as something that was easier to get our heads around. Unless you think that teaching someone a crash course in geological history and/or the origin of the universe is applicable when trying to cover religious text.

There are plenty of other arguments as well, mainly derived from the (factual?) notion that the Bible is written by Man and not God himself. I could be partially-wrong here, as I am not a Christian (atheist, yo).

I dislike anti-theists as much as I dislike religious nutters. That's all.

^ Why do you dislike anti-theism?

likely for the same reason I do, most people who participate it in are arrogant *******s. Sure you've heard the saying 'People don't hate you because you're atheist. They hate you because you're an *******'.

Really, to go to the length that you will not respect someone just because they are religious is disgusting. The rotten apple that spoils the bunch.

Anti-theism doesn't necessarily mean there's no respect for the religious, although I am sure many will not respect those who worship god as described in the Qur'an or the Bible. All anti-theism means is an active opposition to theism.

The concept I am fine with. The actual way it is often executed is where I have a problem.

The only people I consider uttermost trash and deny all respect are those who will not offer even the most simplest respects and courtesies to others. And to do it on the basis of religion...laughable. Yea, it's the same on both sides, religious nutjobs are bad news. I don't have to take sides though.
