You are standing on the edge of heaven and hell and there are two pathways to take, you do however not know which way leads to heaven and what path leads to hell. To assist you, the two guardians "Lie" and "Truth" will answer you one question. You can only ask one of them, and Lie will always lie, whereas truth always will tell the truth. You do however again not know who is Truth and who is Lie. To secure what path is the way to heaven, what question do you ask so that you cannot be in any doubt what way is the right way?
I seriously cant solve this. A friend of mine told me this, and she does not know the answer either. Looked it up on the web etc. but there is nothing that tells me the answer.
Please point to the path which the other guardian would say leads to heaven.
your welcome.

People shouldn't need to validate themselves to others. Report to yourself.
Everyone needs a personal sanctuary, find yours.
Since you can't verify which is which without verifying after the fact you have to involve them both in the question. Ask whichever of them what path the other guardian would say leads to heaven (or hell since this effectively solves it as well). The liar knows the other guardian always tells the truth and therefore tells you the wrong way, since truth would point you to the right way. The guardian that always speaks truth knows the other will always lie and will truthfully answer with the wrong path as well.
Now one can surely know to take the path they didn't point you to if asking the way to heaven and vice versa for hell.
If you ask one guard Would he tell me this path leads to heaven? Whatever answer they give you is the opposite of the truth. You're either asking a truthful person what a liar would say (So you get a lie answer, you're truthfully told what the liar would say.). Or you ask a liar what the truthful person would say (so get the lie answer because that's who you're talking to, lie by default).
"If I were to ask you which path leads to heaven, how would you respond?"

They're both liars. Slay them both and forge your own path.![]()
Oh wow, thanks now i FINALLY GET IT. And its so simple, like every other riddle. Just wanted to ask, since this by far is the hardest riddle ive ever had to think about, how did you find the answer so fast?![]()
It's actually a rather old and well-known riddle. I heard it the first time from these guys in Yugioh.
Yes I remember this from all over the place. Particularly in Samurai Jack except both of them turned out to be liars.
Oh and thanks for driving me right into the TVTropes rabbit hole...someone save me.
Oh well that explains it pretty well lol
The best answer to this riddle I have heard.

I learned it after church when I was nine. After service, there was this birthday party for a kid a year older than me, and another said his birthday wishes from that point on wouldn't come true unless he figured out the answer to that riddle. After a lot of wrong answers and some crying, one of the parents gave him the answer. I was afraid my wishes wouldn't come true, so I remembered the answer from that point on. :/

Its a fun and simple riddle.
The hardest riddle I sat down and eventually figured out was the hat riddle. That riddle will make you bash your head on the wall.
