I play with 3 other friends and they pick the same 3 heroes every game. Our best player picks sand wraith, and lanes mid all the time. My other two friends lane on the short lane with dev and nomad. I end up picking a random hero of my choice every game, and we usually win. Dev will grab one of their best players and hold them, while nomad attacks their most squishy hero, then sand wraith ults in and cleans up with a double tap or hat trick.
I'm just having trouble finding a hero that can fit in and synergize with this.

Just pick universal heroes that work in every lineup: aluna, torturer, magmus, valkyrie, pyro etc etc.
I'd say a strong roamer likeso you can support for your
mid, but this is assuming the SW, Devo and Nomad are smarter/better than what I think they are based on OP's description because they don't sound like they are worth supporting.
Sand Wraith and his friends must be smurfing if he wins all the time with this retarded lineup.
So yeah just pick any hero and you will be fine.
Nomad/Devo lane is questionable.
I'd get a roamer/support with a solid stun...WS, Pyro, Glacius, Aluna.
Believe me, I know devo/nomad is a questionable retarded lane. I told them that. They don't care, because they play in the same room and like talking to each other. SW mid works really good. He gets to 6 fast, and ganks by the press of an R, making wards nearly worthless for spotting ganks. I don't have a problem with that.
I was leaning towards engineer, but the aluna suggestion is spiking my interest. I might switch between the two.
devo nomad works wonders against average players.dev hook+rot and nomad 2nd is enough to kill someone.after you kill,you have freefarm nomad.add a 6 sw with dd or haste.still,why sw?he farms retardedly hard.
I'm not a big believer in the idea that a hero or anything for that matter makes wards obsolete.

It sounds like a rather stupid tactic, especially if they do it every game, making their picks very predictable to your opponents.
Since it sounds like you're laning in the long lane with a random, you should simply get a hero that works with what he gets. But you really are missing a support in that lineup, so preferably one of those. I'd suggest Glacius, Nymphora, Torturer, Aluna, Myrmidon, Monarch, Witch Slayer or a similar hero.
