I find it really silly that some people actually COMPLAIN about new players starting to play HoN and blame S2 for bringing them, do people really want the game to die so hard?
I personally really don't care, probably won't play the mode so whatever. Good for noobs I guess.
The Bro Code - http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/sh...d.php?t=230991
Pretty good stuff but it would be wise to make it the default mode for newbies on their first... 50 matches or something.
Support this.
Edit: Wait... This is casual mode? So new ppl learn to play the game on casual mode :s sounds kinda wrong... And if you wabt to bring back the very old core HoN im pretty sure its not on Casual Mode (-em), think on "core" as initial Dota players stuff. (When beta HoN was a "new' stu ff).

Well, the idea is pretty nice but it can have some improvements.
1. Change it to normal mode. Its nice idea to introduce new players to the game, but casual just doesnt fit in the role. (No penalty for dead = Careless play)
2. A few heroes should be changed i think. (for example Amun may be considered strong against new players because of the limitless harassment and Panda s stuns are pretty uncounterable so new players will surely have hard times against it, but these are just my teories)
3. I think the system of pairing should depend on number of games played instead of just MMR (in 4/5 games me 2000+ games played & my friends got paired against pretty unexperienced players, and i dont think that if they will constantly loose, the will like the game)
Aside of this I really like those death tips, they seems to be a lot more helpful to the new players then the new mode tbh.If they are told where they did the mistake, they should be more careful not to do it again.
As a veteran player (maybe not the best, but still) i cant complain about not getting enough attention. We just recently got Lock pick, and alt skins went down with price, what else should i want to be happy ?
(Maybe the old good Random Draft, but thats another story
)
Core Pool mode is not just for casual, I'm not sure where everyone getting this.
I *do not* like the Express MM but it does simplify things for new people. It seems like S2 is trying to advertise casual mode. I really hope that is not the case, I can't stand casual mode.
This IS CASUAL MODE ONLY. I am looking at the screen right now, there is no option to change it from casual to normal. If you say otherwise you don't know what you are talking about because I am in the game right now, my custom mode is always set to normal and still is - I switch over to express and there is NO OPTION TO CHOOSE NORMAL.
What a waste of time. Why anyone would pick a non-carry in that mode is beyond me. I just played a 30 minute gold-fest, too bad I was pyromancer and the horrible forsaken archer that I stomped all game still got savage mace and frostwolf and proceeded to obliterate me.

I really should stop reading these patch threads because only about 20% of the comments are from people who paid attention and understand that S2 is a business that is interested in growing. But most of what's discussed is the same "S2 why are you such a mean-face" drivel from entitled people who every patch expect to be fellated by the staff for spending $30 of their paper route money three years ago to finance a then-young project, which you knew was good. And it's still good, because if it weren't you wouldn't still be playing this game and crying here. You are appreciated, but your basic understanding of small-business growth is so out of touch with reality that you want to victimize yourself with "why are you letting all these noobs in my game". And the answer to that is that without noob pubtrash like myself, this company would eventually become unable to fund its servers and a game with such huge potential would dry up before its time.
"I bought a demo from a local band three years ago when nobody knew them. Now they're multi-platinum and made their back catalog free for everyone to appreciate, even those undeserving people who don't even speak English. Now I'm offended because they just gave the real fans a little nod in their liner notes and aren't writing new songs exclusively for me. F*ck you guys, you don't appreciate me."

My point is that, Core Pool Mode looks like the fixed hero pool they spoke of to replace the free hero pool that, eventually, got replaced by "all non-ea heroes are now free". Not a new fleshed out game mode like lock pick. It seems to me they had the assets lying around and needed to do something with them, so lets see if we can market it as a new game mode. Our player base is naive enough to buy it...
Although, I really appreciate this thread's big walls of texts defending $2s business model, as if the authors are shareholder of the company or have a masters in management. Mostly because when you read these posts more clearly you see that their authors are truly complaining because they are part of a minority (20%) of the player base that blindly agrees with what $2 is doing.
More griefers? Cool bring them on because more players is always better.
More game modes that are completely useless? Sure, please spend more development time on them because these new modes are straightforward to implement and give the illusion the game has more options.
Bots? Well please. If Dota has bots, although no one uses them, we must have bots. Don't worry if they are completely useless to the majority of players, it will please our 20% blind fanbase minority and that is enough for us...

in my opinion this game mode should be forced on unverified accounts
1. legacy accounts get bonus coins per game and surely have a lot of stuff bought after the 2 years gameplay. i dont think many of them are looking forward to losing it just to create a new account.
2. so much fail there. first, the kicking, you can still do it at public games. the point of mm is to have quicker, probably more balanced matches, not waiting for an hour kicking bad teammates.
but the rest was epic fail. "Why is there a mode for noobs?" -> "PLEASE PLEASE create a mode that allows you to distinguish the pros from casual players" seriously you dont see it?
Am I the only one annoyed by the fact that they use the term MOBA?
The new mode is a great way to attract players who spent a lot of time playing DotA but never got round to HoN.
I support it but I wish S2 would stop dumbing down this genre or HoN's fanbase. Everyone knows how Riot tried to make themselves stand out implementing terms such as Turrets, Minions, Champions, etc. That sort of egoism deserves no attention.
One of the reasons HoN has a smaller player base is its steep learning curve, and whether you love it or hate you have to respect it for its difficulty. It's made by good developers for good players. (This new mode just serves as a great way to cross that bridge without ruining the game for veterans.)
yeah, that term got quite popular. pretty sad.
you got some point, but how do you want to make 90% people happy? you got any revolutionary ideas to make majority of people delighted? lets instead make bots that will please 20% ppl, then core pool for another 20%, then some other minor changes for more minor % and eventually at some point everyone will get a change he is happy about. i dont see other way around it.
also, what is better? pleasing 20% players, or none? your logic is quite flawed.
...
and i just wonder why should i complain about the game i play everyday. new things are coming! i like them => yaay! - i dont like them => so what, probably there are people who do.
