It's a serious question. What joy is there in public games over casual mode or mid wars (if your not enjoying normal mode as it is). Which leads to another question. What is the point of stats in public games? Can they even be taken seriously?
Its a lot easier to organise 5v5s in public games. They are used a lot for scrims as far as I recall.

Well for someone with mass leaves and cannot enter match making, you can still participate in games that record stats by playing stat pub games with no smiley face![]()
No, PSR is not that serious compared to MMR because the team can be manipulated, any game mode contributes to win/lose. So you play a APCM no respawn, items drop, duplicate heroes; you win and gain PSR, no different to playing a normal mode all pick stat game. Although if you like playing games with these modes, feel free to do so.
Off topic: It's interesting to see people who play only public games and hardly played match making. There are also players who are 1600 + PSR but 1300-1500 MMR which is very common. And there are people like me. Raina_ MMR: 1706 PSR: 1473 :P

As DB said, it's mainly used for Scrims. Raina_ also mentioned that it helps people lower their leaver % if they cannot get into match making.
