Yes or I don't really care but would be useful
No, I like wasting time refreshing the games list for a matching game
Hello,
At this moment there is about 500-600 games running and it's sometimes taking a while to download the whole list and then do the "match" client-side. I mostly extrapolate this by the fact that there will probably be more games running when the game will be released, I'd say 800-1000 depending on many situations.
I got an idea that games currently matching the filters should be sent first server-side and then non-matching ones so we can get the games we want quicker.
It's nothing much, might require a change in the way the master server works but in this game there is too many game modes and factors that makes me join a game or not compared to other games which uses this method, so with more games (or servers) sending matching games first would be more efficient in terms of finding games.
Example, I usually play All Heroes and Force Random modes for a 5v5 with the no leavers option on, stats tracking on and in the USA and there is usually 2 or 3 games like that, therefore I don't see the use of waiting for them to come in a very big list of games and at the very last.
TBH I like the idea but it's probably not worth the resources to do it server-side.
Not my place to say.
I don't think that it would use that much more resources server-side but I'm not in the best position to argument on this point. The only people who would have an answer for that would be the developers.
I guess client-side filtering allows them to do some caching server-side.
Server-side caching isn't a nice idea since new games can be created each seconds.
A nice master-server query system would be nice and would probably takes hold off the master-server since it wouldn't require to send every servers to everyone but only the ones that are matching. The only problem is when we change the filters, thats why that the matching ones would come first and then download the rest.

Bump!
It's something very small but will be enjoyable once the game numbers per zones hits 500+ and would lower the loads off the master server(s) (network-wise, maybe CPU-wise too). The trick would be to extend the "pre-query" to support more game modes.
