I haven't had a PC for close to two years now and haven't played a game of hon in 550 days. I recently built a new PC and I want to get back into it. My question is, what have I missed. What's the metagame now? Thanks for any answers in advance.
Hmm, I'd say start anew. There's nothing similar from when you played, and a damn lot of new heroes went out! I cannot say precisely "what's the metagame now", as it depends on each brackets of play, but unlike LoL, stunning your ennemies is very popular in HoN, as it always have been.
Try playing in casual games, heroes you did know how to play. The original DotA port heroes (Valkyrie, Pestilence, Glacius, Pyromancer, Devourer etc.) are still present in most games, I'm pretty sure you'll be good playing those heroes again.

I think no one wants to write a very long list about things youve missed, so just start again.
That's what I had planned on doing, I still have HoN facebook page on my account, and I kept seeing new heroes added. I knew I was going to be way out of the loop when I got back into it. I think I will just start out running support heroes that I know and then as I get used to the game again I will move onto carries or something. I played a couple of games last night and was picking up the game pretty quickly again, played a couple of support glacius. Need to work on my lane harrass and my macros right now. But this new shop, is really throwing me off. I didn't expect that, and I don't like it. That's going to be the hardest thing to get used to.
Put old shop back?
Open console (ctrl + F8) and write cg_useNewShop2 false. Enjoy your old shop.
That didn't work for me. I just went into a practice game and did it, still have the new shop.

Or get used to the new one, took me 2 weeks and I'm fine with it now
