Counter pick to dev mid?

Title says it all. What are some good counter picks to dev mid?

I'm thinking a strength hero with bash -- rampage -- or a hero with a blink -- hag.

What are your thoughts?

Easy. Dev can't really kill blinkers before 6, and they can take runes before him, preventing his ganks. Carries are also a good choice since Dev will usually be ganking often and hence, let you freefarm mid. A combination of both is optimal (e.g Magebane - very good since he burns his mana and steals his runes making him unable to gank, Gemini, Silhouete, Valk, Bubbles and even Hag works fine). Avoid getting squishies with no escapes or limited -cc against him unless you're sure you can outplay him.

Overal, the best counter to dev is your own skill/judgment to avoid hooks. Heros with escapes make it so much easier tho.

You dont really need a "counter" to dev, he's usually easily outharrased in the laning phase by any good ranged hero, like valk.
As melee I think Electrician or Moraxus would deffinitely put a dent into devourer.

and my personal favorite seriously though pred owns his face hard.

Your best defense is of course going to be keeping aware of where he is and dodging the hooks. That can be hard if the dev is a better player than you are though.

Blacksmith is a surprisingly stong counter to Dev mid. He do more damage to Dev than Dev can do to him, he can out-last hit a Dev with better base damage and better attack animation. His stun is low CD and low mana so it's no problem if Dev hooks you, just stun and walk away. Plus, Flaming Hammer is > Rot.

another key point being that bs has a huge HP pool to match devo, so at no point can dev really man up against him and win unless bs has been taking unnecessary damage.

Slither, you win every fight before level 6, as long as you don't get hooked to tower.

Arachna just completely craps on Devo, Devo can't take the harass and has to play extremely defensive or risk just dying to Arachna's slow and damage output. Arachna can also easily cs with some duck boots thanks to her aura.

Besides that, a lot of the good ones have already been mentioned, if I'm looking for a go-to one I'll usually pick Arachna(guaranteed free farm lane as long as you don't get hooked), salforis (out-harass/out-live), electrician (shield), bloodhunter (out last-hit and silence), predator (magic immune), or magebane (blink, and devo will never have mana to do anything, forcing him to go somewhere else) mid, and yes blacksmith completely poops on Devo mid as well, though I don't know about blacksmith's actual worth taking mid besides in pubstomps

Oh, demented mid and Jeraziah mid definitely as well. Wildsoul mid is also a GREAT one if you have the balls to do it Booboo roots/harass/last hit craps on devo, devo can't line a hook, and wildsoul has ulti to outlast devo if he gets ulted lol. And wildsoul and demented are great pushers, which is a soft-counter to devo as it establishes map control which limits Devo's ganking potential.

There are better ones, but my fav is pebbles - only because I get so much satisfaction out of letting them hook me, rotting, trading a couple auto's and then I combo him dead. Nothing better. Only thing close is walking around invis with DW and 1 shotting a low lvl full hp support when you're 11+

But they depend on magic damage espcially Pebbles, and devo got passive magic armor and if he would be against and pebbles his first item would be vestment obviously and when thats done, devo counters Pebbles more then Pebbles will ever counter Devo.

I like Slither, Arachna, or a carry. As a carry your sole goal against DEVO mid is to farm farm farm. Let him try to gank and just keep your farm up. Specific carries would be MK, Pred, etc.

Moraxus, electrician and zephyr are the strongest ones. Devo takes a huge dump on hag, pebbles and mb. Dunno why ppl counts those as a counters to devo...

Every hero CAN be a counter to Dev. Key is positioning and awareness. A ward placed on their ramp will help a lot.
