CM sucks just as much now as it did when it first came out. No one would even play CM anymore if EM was still in the game, that's why they got rid of EM in the first place.

only problem i have with playing support is the lack of item choices. boots, ward, blue ward, tp, vestment, usually something cheap survival support item like tablet, power supply, pk. building those over and over is too cookie cutter

playing support sucks compared to the remaining roles

What I always do us play an aggressive support hero. I might get a few kills but I try to let the carry have the kills. Like empath. If you play her very aggressively she is amazing!

Really depends on your perception, I think ricing is extremely boring.
Look out your window... It's a Tree!
Look in that tree... It's ME!!!

I too am a carry/ganker mainly, I just hate support.
    It's just boring.
Imagine playing very intensively for a few games and then suddenly you happen to be a support?
    I almost fall asleep :\

I find that if you want a support on your team, you better be prepared to play it yourself.
I rarely get to play any side-lane role other then support, and if I do, most of the times I find myself farm-fighting or having the support "to bored" and it ruins the time.
The thing is, I don't mind playing support, but people better damn learn to respect the work and effort I put in with limited rescources. Got to love whenever codex-pebbles ask for wards. Sometimes, I say **** it and work for to finish my tablet or whatever item I pursue. I don't find placing wards 24/7 in my bracket (15-1600ish) does the same good as working to finish an item that can contribute positively in teamfights. This will of course depend on team, but we're talking about the average joe.
It's the thoughts around the support that is bothersome. That your carry has 400 gpm is not because your carry is so god damn good, but rather the team that allows your carry to reach it, which usually falls into the hand of support.

I just lost a game because the enemy support was much better than ours. And ours wasn't even that bad. The enemy just had better map coverage, better items, and more counter wards. Made it hard to do anything.

I LOVE playing support!! I don't even like it when other people buy wards because I've had too many people who fail at warding on my team. Plus there's always that time where if you have 2 supports, you'll place a ward for bot rune and then 2 seconds later the other support will place a ward right by it because he queued up the action and wasn't paying attention. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!

I used to play tank/initiator in DotA (like tidehunter <3) but I switched to strictly support once I started playing HoN because 99% of people playing HoN want to put on the big boy pants and carry everyone. You don't need 5 carries on a team so why not just support?

Don't forget that if you solo queue as a support player, you'll get blamed for every loss, every death the carry gets that you were within 4000 distance of, and when you die for the benefit of your other more important team members it's the end of the world. It's a thankless frustrating job, but somebody's gotta do it.

Then build something not cookie cutter? I often build Icebrand/Brutalizer on Demented Shaman. More HP and nice for team fights if you really don't need that Tablet/Astro. Icebrand's also my choice as base defender support if we're down to only one set of 'racks.

Edit - I've never been blamed for a loss as a support despite how responsible I was for it. <.<

In reality as a support you have a lot more to do than a carry. If you can't find things to do as a support you're doing it wrong.

Edit: Lack of gold makes your item choices that much more crucial. Your lack of health/items makes your positioning/decision making...that much more crucial.

I love supporting, and have found that if done right, usually wins games.

I have learned a lot about how to support right from experience, but also from this guide.

Also from this warding map by an author unknown to me which i have re-posted.

Astro, stormspirit, energizer, abysal, nomes, tablet, idol and even SoL's can be a decent pick-up on any support as a mid-game item.(and when somehow you have gotten a shitload of gold you shouldnt have, sheepstick/hellflower/FFP)

And to the people saying playing support sucks: It only sucks if you are supporting the terribad carry and dont gank at all, while dieing first every fight because of bad positioning.

Back in EM, at least everyone had at least something to start off with, something to build with, a sign o f hope.
In NM is just all carry/ganker uber neverending snowball farm while as a support it's completely out of ones hands.
It feels like as support you might aswell go afk and wait so that you at least don't feed, that's how fun it is.

I don't know im just tired, don't mind me.
Start playing with a regular bunch of people while playing support... then repost this.
