It's a general guideline to a pub build, team setups in competitive gaming change with game changes. There's no point in writing a guide for competitive teams as they already possess the knowledge to make proper setup decisions for themselves and are in no way bound by what I've stated in this guide.

Pubbers do not possess the awareness required to play a setup with multiple carrys in the current meta game, and again it's a general guideline, not a rule.

HOLY ****!!!!!!! I JUST SAW THAT ARMOR MECHANICS VID AND IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE. HOLY ****!!@121!111 I've been playing this game + dota for so long now. I had no idea of this. My brain has exploded from the insane logic. I get it now. The % protected is misleading since it blocks that with every hit.

It's not an error because of how percentages work.
Percent is not a static increase in a number, rather it is an increase in so many parts per 100 (cent means hundred)."

Love the graph. Should do some math on if getting HP items is more cost effective then getting armor in certain situations.

Nice guide but isnt this outdated? For instance where it says you can aggro creeps if you click on an enemy hero from another lane is not true, atleast from what I tested.

    major feedback for you here.

You will improve your OODA loop slightly when learning new concepts, but once you've mastered them, you will find yourself making the best use of time and in game strategy.

For instance, it is impossible to make the fastest and best decision in the laning phase if you have no concept of Hero Roles and Map Awareness.

EX: Last hit or harass? Last hit or harass? nuke or harass? last hit or deny? deny or harass? lane or heal?health pot or mana pot?

you can't decide Effectively, or with any sense of Quality, on those types of questions during the laning phase if you think you are a carry, and you really are a support.

Here are some major high level game concepts that you can gain knowledge and understanding on to improve your OODA:

    -Fog of War
    -Field of Vision
-Map Awareness (this encompasses A TON of high level game concepts)
    -Map Control
    -Hero Roles
    --Initiator
    --Support
    --Carry
    --Ganker
    --Semi-Carry
    --Pusher
    --NukerBurst DPS
-Game Phases (Laning, Early, Mid, Late)
-Team Lineups (what heroes you and your enemy team picks)
    --Hero Picking
    --Counter Picking
-Team Strategies (what the end strategy is for you and your enemy team lineups)
    --Push Strat
    --Turtle Strat
--Gank Strat (Currently the most favored strat in the meta)
    --Team-fight Strat
    --Global Strat
    --Lesser Strats
    -Item Builds (for EVERY hero)
    --Game Start
    --Core Items
    --Situational Items
    --Luxuries
    --Don't touch items
    -Skill Builds (for EVERY hero)
    --Varations
    --Skill Mana Cost
    --Skill Cooldowns
-Chain Casting or Chain CC (ive heard both used for the same topic)
    -Scaling
    -Animation Canceling
    -Orb Walking
    -Last hitting
    --Creep Killing/Denying
    --Tower Razing/Denying
-Game Mechanics (this helps you utilize in game bugs/fixes that can make or break a kill, one of which right now is the Unstuck feature mentioned in my sig)
    -Patch Updates

the list goes on, I am definitely missing some let me know if i should add to it.

this comes from a strategy article about Decision making. You should probably reference the OODA article in this guide as there is a lot more information amateurs can use once you get terminology down to improve your skills. Also, there are some terms here that you may want to include. Several overlap or are intertwined, but some mention of these may be helpful. you can choose how in depth you want to take it. I might also be willing to help in this matter, as the OT is dying and is not as entertaining.

Also, in my list i have a lot of terms that may help you add to your guide. Some ideas overlap and whatnot, but most (if not all) should be included in a guide like this.

    D. One particular example I want to share with you is the bottling a rune while being chased. People often start fumbling with their buttons and skills while doing this, they lose speed and get caught and in worse case scenario they didn't even bottle the rune. Shift queue the bottling and a way point, that way you will instantaneously bottle the rune and keep moving. No errors, and no loss in movement speed.
true in dota yes, for whatever reason s2 hasn't mirrored this yet

shift moving after picking up a rune usually less efficient than just picking it up and moving after (which is dumb)

are u sure that's still true ? or ever was ? coz i've tried many times to agroo the creeps like this with legionnaire to get fast farm by clickin on some ennemy hero on another lane and it never seemed to work.

Perhaps I just did it wrong ..

This "Guide" was written a long while ago, and I am no longer playing HoN regularly. For the convenience of new readers I will go back and go over this Guide and fix any information that is wrong due to the game evolving because I feel it might still help some people, if you do find any more inconsistencies besides from those that have been mentioned in the posts feel free to pm me and I'll get them fixed, that way we can keep the thread for discussing the contents of the guide.

To everyone who enjoyed the guide so far, I'm glad I could help you out in some small way. I spent many an hour on this massive compilation covering many topics so I'm very happy it has been appreciated.
