Lightbulb [D2L-3] General Grant - The Grand Tactician

    General Grant
    The Grand Tactician

    Story

Grant grew-up in a farmland state far away from the city of Adkarna, until the rampaging invasions of the hellbourne began.

Grants town was pillaged and destroyed, and only him and a few survivors were left that could make it untill Adkarna's response arrived, a small army lead by the young Jereziah himself, which swiftly brought justice upon the demons and reclaimed back the city.

Grant came to admire Jereziah as a Hero and decided to follow in his steps. Grant enrolled in Adkarna's most prestigious military academy and rouse through the ranks at light speed, to become one of the most revered tactical and strategic geniuses the Legion ever had, with wits second only to king Jereziah himself.

As a distinction of his career he was granted clearance to the Legions most lethal, top-secret weapon the Orbital Magic Cannon Etherion, dubbed as O.M.C. Etherion.

    Art Design and Sound

His design is based on the emperor Napoleon Bonaparte (from the above picture) and other generals from the victorian and american civil war eras which give off this classic, colonial military feeling with their long rifles with bayonets. More Art concepts annexed to the dream site.

Grants voice and lines should sound like he's a veteran of war, very cunning in his view of the battlefield and an "always with a back-up plan" confidence.

-"I plan for the best, I prepare for the worst"
    -"Cabalry on its way!"
    -"Flank them!"
    -"Time to turn the tables"
    -"Strategic Retreat!"
    -"March!"
    -"Fire!"
-"I need stall for time..." (On Cooldowns)
-"I'm lacking mana!" (On Mana Depletion)

    Hero's Stats

    Base attack type:Range
    Base attack Range: 550
    Base Damage: 43-45

    Hero Concept and Roles

General Grant was intended to be a hard pusher type hero like Keeper and Ophelia with some ganking and supporting capabilities and, who instead of "tree-lings" or neutrals uses common creeps to make up his small armada, he can also deliver great DPS over time.

    Promotion

    Welcome to the war, soldier.

    Skill Mechanics:

    Action Type:
    Target Friendly Units (allied creeps)
    Conditionals:
    Restocking charges
    Range:
    Global
    Cast time:
    0.0
    Manacost:
    100/110/120/130
    Cooldown:
    0
    Charge Cooldown: 60/55/50/45

    Detailed Explanation:

This skill has a 0 level like Master of Arms weapon switching skill, the 0 level does not give any of the upper level benefits.

Grant casts promotion on allied creeps to permanently posses and move under his jurisdiction.

Units gained controll of by the means of Promotion gain the following benefits:

-Warfare Gear: nighttime vision reduction lessened by 25% + 2% movement speed / nighttime vision reduction lessened by 50% +3% movement speed / nightime vision reduction lessened by 75% +4% movement speed/ No nighttime vision reduction +5% movement speed.
    -Advanced Training: X X/ +5 HP +%5 DMG/ +10% HP + 10 DMG/ +15%HP +15% DMG
-Lethal Precision: X X/X X/5% critical strike chance, 15% chance of up to 6 times stacking 5% movement speed tapering (duration 2s) / 7.5% critical strike chance, 20% chance of up to 6 times stacking 5% movement speed tapering (duration 2s)
    -Ultimate Soldier: X X/ X X/ X X/ Turns promoted creep into mega-creep.

This skill has 4 inital charges and a maximum of 4 charges at 0 level and gains a +1 maximum charge increase for each lvl.

    Charge Cooldown is 60/55/50/45

Maximum units is 4 at 0 level and is increased 1 for each lvl.

This system is basically a different variation of engineer's 3rd mine ability.

    Ambush Escort

    Offense or Defense? decisions decisions...

    Skill Mechanics:

    Action Type: Target Enemy Units.
    Conditionals: Split Skill.
    Casting Range: 700 radius.
    Shared Cooldown: 32/30/28/26 s
    Manacost: 100/110/120/130

Only units within a 900 radius of Grant will be available for these skills.

-Grant casts Ambush on an enemy hero to order his troops to close in with stealth and boosted speed and surround him.
-Impedes movement if there are enough units.
-Channeling spell while units move into position.
-Units are stealthed but have unit-walkthrough during the channel
-Units rush to the target (like Rampage's Charge / Emerald Warden's hunting dogs) while moving into position.
-Also increases grant's troops attack speed by 10/15/20/25 %.
-Attack speed buff duration is 5 s.
-Units can be moved freely after they've already enclosed the target.

-Grant casts Escort on an allied hero to order his troops to, at a boosted speed, group up and surround him.
-Channeling spell while units move into position.
-Units are not stealthed but have unit-walkthrough during the channel.
-Units rush to the target (like Rampage's Charge / Emerald Warden's hunting dogs) while moving into position.
-Doesn't completely limit its movement but still reduces the allied hero's movement by 50/40/30/20 %.
-The units escorting the allied hero take 65/70/75/80 % of the total damage done to the allied hero.
-Units also prevent melee-range attacks by blocking out enemies.
-Activating the skill again will stop the formation and send the troops back to Grant.

    Encouraging Presence

A true Leader also leads on the battlefield.

    Skill Mechanics:

    Action Type: Toggle Passive Aura
    Range: 900 radius

+10/+20/+30/+40 Attack Damage increase to all allied creeps in the area.
    +10/+20/+30/+40 Attack Speed increase
to all allied creeps in the area.
    +5/+10/+15/+20 Attack Damage increase
to all allied heroes in the area.
    +5/+10/+15/+20 Attack Speed increase
to all allied heroes in the area.
5/10/15/20 % armor increase to all allied creeps in the area.
4/6/8/10 % armor increase to all allied heroes in the area.

    Etherion

    Call down the thunder.

    Skill Mechanics:

Action Type: Target Ground (mobile object creation, like the neutral creep's whirlwhind)
    Range: Global
    Delay: 5/4/3 s
    Movement speed: 280/290/300
Damage Type: Magic (Superior, damages towers)
    DPS: 130/140/150
    Duration: 6/7/8 s
    AoE: 400 radius
    Manacost: 200/210/220
    Cooldown: 180/160/140

AoE Effect: Crushing Pressure: -30% movement speed while inside the radius of Etherion.

    Detailed Explanation:

Grant signals the orbital magic cannon to fire in the appointed coordinates, the cannon takes some time to charge up so it must be coordinated with precision to help his team, the cannon then fires and slowly burns away to waste all it encounters. Because of the enourmous pressure of magic particles pressing against the surface all enemy units inside the beam's AoE will suffer -30% for the duration of the skill. Unless
    they get out of it.

    Skill-set Design and Synergy

Grants first skill, Promotion, is so that he can gather units which compose his small squad with which he can use in conjuction with the rest of his other abilities, hence why I gave it a MoA-styled 0 level, which is crucial for him to have a good skill-set synergy.

The main reason why Promotion is global is so he can gather his army by spending the charges while the creeps are already out and inbound to the lane this gives him time to accumulate even more charges to use when the creeps have already arrived to the actual hero's location on the lane.

Then the other reason and intended use for the global promotion, which I found pretty interesting was to promote a creep in a lane that was being ganked so this could follow the enemy target if it tries to juke and so giving vision and possibly (with a bit of skill) block the enemy hero's movement to contribute to your allies gank.

Or just place the promoted creep near a rune or heavily transited cross-section to spot enemy ganks and what-not. Hence why I gave the vision and M speed attributes as first and to not make them too over-powered at level 1.

Then there's the Ambush/Escort split-skill which I thought for it to have a relatively good casting range but also some kind of condition, since I did NOT want his controlled creeps to just globally charge the enemy target like rampage.

For Ambush I wanted to give it a more "they came out of the bushes feeling, "It's a Trap!!!"(Admiral Ackbar ©)" so that you could stealthily hide creeps in all directions and among the forest and when the enemy hero came out too far into the lane you could ambush and surround him with your creep squad and teammates.

    ///

As for Escort I wanted for it to be a more defense-supportive skill in which with the same casting range and creep availability range this skill would instead protect an allied hero from being ganked or at least completely killed off by the enemy team. And from there surged the idea for a more "Protect the King/President!!!" secret service/royal guard - ish kind of skill which is why the damage targeted to your ally is, in part, taken and redistributed between the promoted allied creep team.

Encouraging Presence is a passive aura skill I came up with so as to make Grants presence on the field justifiable since two of his skills are global that wouldd mean that his presence in the is also non-necessary so I thought giving him a valuable passive aura, that couldn't just be merely overlooked, then players would be somehow compelled to stay more active in the battle-grounds.

Then comes his ult, that when in synergy with the accumulated army's bonuses plus the passive aura and slow effect from the ult would become a fatal and devastating combination that enemy teams should be wary of.

Other than that I wanted for this "army" to have some organization-like skill like in age of empires or other older games, where they made formations for different situations, so this would be use to block off enemy escape paths or surround them from the front and back.
