Just wanting to get to know this game better, as I'm thinking of making a suggestion or 3.
Why is the slow on ice brand an attack modifier?
Why doesn't fire brand have an attack modifier?
Why isn't there an int version?
Why are steam boots switchable when you have bought only str items?
It's an attack modifier because it modifies your attack, and it's one of those modifiers who block out the others (lifesteal and -armor) which means you can not stack it with them.
Fire brand just doesn't have one, I am not sure how to explain this.
There are other viable int carry items.
My guess as to why they are switchable is because they want to make the item useful for all the attributes.
:o
1. Because it was designed as an attack modifier due to its effecft on impact.
2. Firebrand does not have an effect on impact. If you think Firebrand needs one, we have the Suggestions forum for that.
3. Presumably because there are a number of Int items that provide damage amplification and stat boosts (Hellflower and Harkons for a popular two) in addition to design complications with regards to combining Firebrand, Icebrand and this new theoretical item.
4. Because the boots auto-combine when you buy the Agi or Int equivalent item as well.

Why is the slow on ice brand an attack modifier?
-it slows them when you attack them, hence modifying your attack with a slow
Why doesn't fire brand have an attack modifier?
-it doesnt modify your attack, only your movement speed
Why isn't there an int version?
-theres no need
Why are steam boots switchable when you have bought only str items?
-because steamboots are a 3 for 1 deal. No matter what item you use to make it it can switch to all 3 forms
Every item that is powerful and gives u many advantages has to be modifier so u cant combine it with other "same" items.
Fire brand give you nothing but speed and does not affect enemy, (ur attacks doesnt burn him or slow him or anything).
Because it is supposed to be used by carry hero, not by int/support hero. Also there are few similar items for int.
Not true. Steam boots can be bought with marchers gloves and int vest (dont know the name, but it is blue item for 450 gold)
*that means u can buy full steamboots at secret shops, u dont have to buy them in base (in case someone didnt know)
cheers![]()

Firebrand has speed boost which is one of the best effects in the game, only a few items do that, stormspirit, firebrand and frostburn (energizer for a short period of time).![]()
Good thing about playing with friends: you will never get kicked when picking Night Hound as Orange or Brown.
Thanks guys
But I was wanting a bit more in depth info, because nullfire blade, brutilizer etc aren't modifiers (orbs) while lifesteal, shieldbreaker and the slow of icebrand are.. what is/was used to decide what is an orb/attack modifier?
I understand how frostburn is meant to work (atk and ms boost coupled with a slow) and the suggestion once I nut it out fully will be along the lines of steamboots, steamboots are used to buff your hero in either str/agi/int with Noobs leaving them set to one while pros will switch them around, so I'm just wanting some back ground as to why these items are the way they currently are.
Nullfire blade was a modifier and I think now it isnt due to balance reasons, brutalizer is an on chance effect much like thunder claw so its not a modifier. Steamboots were made that way in DotA because they were terrible compared to then very op phase boots (gave armor) and it stuck, not to mention having several different steamboots is a hassle.
Ahh now that makes sense , on chance isn't a modifier while on attack is. Sweet, been looking into this so hard I missed that LOL.
And I guess icebrand and firebrand are the way they are because of s&y in dota?
They're not the same as in dota, dota was a % chance to hit, unless they changed recently. The reason it's an attack modifier is because of balance, simple as that. Early hon days saw a frostburn that wasn't an attack modifier and because of that the meta game was centered around stacking frostburn and either lifesteal or shieldbreaker. Needless to say it broke the game pretty bad and made ranged carries absolutely unbearable to face against.
It's because Icebrand ad Firebrand were Sange and Yasha in DotA and Sange is a lot worse than Icebrand, actually. Before, the slow was a Maim that had a probability of happening whereas with Icebrand it's a constant slowing effect. Icebrand is infinitely better than Sange is so I thank this game for making S & Y viable.
