has anyone tried this? im curious on how good it is and differs from other ARPGs.
im considering on purchasing a key as i have become very bored with games lately. i pretty much just play dota with friends when they are on, attempt to play multiplayer DOTP 2013 (its very buggy), or when i am really bored i will play diablo 3 to try and cash out (woo 20 dollars so far! lol)
the graphics remind me of oldschool diablo and nox which i honestly prefer. i havent watched too many gameplay videos to tell if its worth it though.
Honestly I enjoyed Path of Exile. I wouldn't but it but the beta was fun.
If you're just looking for an APRG to play it's a safe bet. That or Torchlight II when it comes out.
Diablo III was a let down, but I haven't seen where PoE has gone since beta.
The graphics are more in the direction realistic, than diablo III's "comic" styled ones. There's a HUGE amount of variety and customization in this game, which also means you can screw up your character pretty damn good, but you can also specialize in things, as opposed to diablo 3 where everyone is the same, has the same, and the only unique trait of a character is the equipment.
And a VERY important point: it's actually difficult right off the bat. I've played diablo 3 for about 2 days (casually, not nerding through it) and normal difficulty can easily be solved by keeping the left mouse button pressed and occasionally pressing the right one.
Path of exile on the other hand punishes you the second you don't pay attention. I remember dying to the first "boss" because I didnt think much of it, but that guy hit pretty damn hard, and so does every special mob in that game.
Look for myhighlighted text(important information) andGrey text (interesting but not required information).

personally i didnt mind diablo 3's graphics. they kinda reminded me of dota 2.
but ya, diablo 3's normal was wayyyy to easy. it makes me not want to start hardcore mode (along with other reasons) and it really hurts the replay value.
lol not even the equipment is unique. everyone pretty much uses the same stats and equipment types.
i dont mind being able to screw your character up. thats a given on the first time. i remember screwing m dark souls characters up and replaying the game and getting to where i was in a quarter of my past played time was fun.
how is the difficulty? just high damage on monsters?
Depends on the class I'm sure. I first went as a duelist, and had difficulties with the first boss. Decided **** it, and made a ranger, (DH equiv) which has been ez mode.
Level 20 or so (haven't played in a while), I think the game is ok, but I find the special skills rather dull.
Yea, some of the monsters hit hard, and have annoying attributes, just like D3. From my (limited) exp in PoE though I would still prefer D3.
Boring spell animations an extremely slow recovery time after casting. It can't even compete with diablo 3.
have you seen the map system? sнit is great. beats all the D3 content alone, because its never ending chalenging endgame

The ideas themselves are very innovative an intelligent. The combat however is not.
ya i guess combat and skills is all diablo 3 has over this game. oh and i guess graphics but thats whatever.
combat is very much diablo 2. i dont see the issue here, game is designed for d2 fans
waiting on Grim Dawn personally
spell variation isnt an issue, its not that hard to add more skills. they are doing it quite fast tbh, when i played it few months ago there were way less skills than there is now. and its not even open beta yet.
game is growing on a steady rate, its too early to judge it fully.
what level is that KS? This game really is a drag for me right now.
Bought the title for 10 bucks before d3. best 10 bucks spent before d3.
Played d3. still thought path of exile was more enjoyable. as the others have pointed out, good graphics, nice new gem system for hero active skills and spells (although explained a little poorly might wanna watch some youtube videos) and a great mindboggling levelling system. compared to d3, also more difficult.
The only thing i really wished for real voice acting. voice acting in d3 really makes that game look good.
Try it. You wont regret it. when the beta came out, i finished the entire thing in a week and a half. 6 hrs everyday.

Fear makes the wolf look bigger.

Been playing a lot lately, just got to cruel difficulty on one of my charas. Lots of fun once you get immersed into the skill tree and start planning out builds
I'll never forget what I felt that day...
I, want to be a Hero of Justice!
I did the first act a while back when it was in beta and found it quite fun. Looks like it could be a fun game to mess around in, although the bag space was horrible (as bad as diablo2), and if you don't like the retro feel then you won't like it.

yea they really need to switch up the death animations and what not. Going into caverns and seeing squid and spiders all die the exact same way is lame. Something I really appreciated in D3.
It also has a quest vibe to it, despite being in the same genre as D3. Something that you'll find either enjoyable or annoying.
