it only happens on bf3, and it was working fine for the first couple of months of BF3. Then i downloaded a patch and it started crashing a ton. I've checked online and a lot of people having the same problem, with no definitive way of fixing it.

Project Zomboid An amazing indie survival zombie game

Have you tried going back to a previous NVIDIA driver version?

Are you using the latest NVIDIA drivers at all?

Plenty of people are using these cards with BF3 with no problems. There will always be people with problems, but that doesn't mean that there is a common problem. There are probably 100,000 people with BF3 and a GTX570, if 1% have a problem then that is a 1000 people on forums saying something is wrong. Doesn't mean that it is really a common problem or a common issue.

I wouldn't bother upgrading to try and exceed 44fps, that's plenty high enough anyway.

for gaming though, that priority sequence has always been GPU > Processor > RAM
I would agree but BF3 is a cpu killer
