Striders?

What do you think, on which heroes is Striders viable? Personally I started to hate the item, after buying it on devo and losing 80% of the games.

Complete garbage on heroes like devourer, pebbles, moraxus like some guides say if you had SOME farm early on, like even 2 creeps every wave. It's great on roamer heroes and hard supports without a doubt who needs to be everywhere, and very mobile.

on devo they are nice since it allows you to roam
on pebb,moraxus they are nice since it allows you to get pkey FASTER!
on supports they are nice if you know how to position yourself not to die in teamfights,to ward faster etc/

devo is constantly in combat, and i don't think you can follow someone even with rot on with 335 movespeed :P

I saw a wildsoul get them because while rushing mock on bear. kept them through the game, even after he had a daemonic and stuff... but then again ws has that ms bonus from his skill so it isn't too big of a deal except the -stats.

I get them on supports if we're losing or i have 0 farm. that bonus ms is worth it when i don't have the money for steam/plated and tps.

it's not about following,it's about him going from mid to other lanes really fast,hiding in the bushes and hooking unsuspecting enemies all done very fast.you have your teammates support(stuns,other slows)

I make steams to devo and works perfectly...
I think striders are good for roamers and I just usually get them to polly for some reason. Fast striders, pk and then up striders to travels.

if i feel like a douche bag i'll get striders on ws and the bear. Honestly....perma haste is pretty awesome.

Striders are only good for when you actually move to point A to point B without attacking anything or getting attacked. You get attacked and they turn into red boots. That being said, 500 more and you could have another cheap pair which is plated boots which gives 5 armor, ability to push with creeps and faster movement inside of combat.

People saying they are good on devo dont know what they are talking about. Sure u can go to a place and land a hook. Then what? devo is pretty much the slowest hero there is with his low base MS so how is not ghost alot better? since u need to chase with decay.....DAH!?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?

I would have to disagree with ever getting them on Devourer, simply for the fact that the become obsolete very fast and pale in comparison to Ghost Marchers.

As already mentioned by RoLanD, Roamers and Hard Support are the only heroes that should even consider getting Striders. Some examples would be Witch Slayer, Andromeda, Glacius and Magmus.

On heroes that need great mobility, or are getting little farm, either Striders or Plated Greaves are best in my opinion. But if you are having decent farm 150 gpm+ and a support, I suggest getting STR Steamboots for better survivability, and spending this extra gold should only set you back a few wards, as living longer will allow you to gain a higher GPM.
But on heroes with decent STR gain, like per say pebbles that need mobility, i believe striders on him works until you have your core items.

you had a bad start,you get them,you get fast in a lane and make 2 kills,you sell striders and get steams/ghosts.prophet?

i like getting it on legio since legionnaire's core (hotbl chalice pk bulwark vestments) is so expensive and later on i just sell them for 400 to get better boots

I only get striders whenever i have really poor farm.

I only get them on Magmus as a roamer so I can get to fights quickly and rush that PK. I avoid it on supports because I find that I'm often too active doing stuff to make that much use of the Striders boost and I find the other boots are very much worth the extra gold.
