How do I not care for my KDR in NM and how to maintain it.
How come do majority of players find stats so important? There are too many players are like "oh you have 0.XX kd so you are bad" when the player commonly picks supports for other games which makes them isolated from picking any other role in games? I mean I used to worry about KD a lot until I preferred to take the bullet and pick support for the team (around 70% of games noon will pick support and want to carry), this is now sort of kicking in me in the teeth as less players will allow me to mid or pick a carry role. That also leads to another question of why do people refuse to pick supports for the team which everyone will know that the game is lost due to bad lanes or bad set up (like chronos / ew lane or someone picking night hound to solo or something).
I will have some use of you![]()
Sorry for the late responses, been busy with DreamHoN. Answering them now![]()
I prefer playing support, since it gives me a little more time to think (since you are standing slightly back ideally, and that gives me slightly less pressure, thus I can think about what I will do), I feel way too often let down by the carry I supported.
Is there an efficient way to solo pull yourself to 1700 as support player, or should you get a carry player to join up with you, and help him get fat?
It is possible to support your way into 1700s, its just a bit more difficult than carrying your self into there. It would be more preferable to either carry your self there or have a friend to join who you will be supporting. When you eventually reach the rating you desired you can start supporting again.
Yup you pretty much got your answer by Ackwell1.
Just remember, a decent support is just as powerful as a carry. If you continue pressuring the opponent and gank for your team which will give your lanes an edge over the opponent, you should almost guarantee victory. This is a lot easier to do in pubs.
How would you advise new players to get into competitive scene? What are the requirements and what do they have to do to get noticed? What are the basic requirements to actually get there.
Think of age, times to play, having a pitchy voice, what roles are needed most atm, how do you get in contact with decent players etc. etc.
Casual HoN
On a scale of 1 to 10, How important do you think it is to be nice to your teammates to win?
With all the flaming and hating in Heroes Of Newerth, I found it easier to win when my team cooporated: If you are nice in the beginning they will help more to win the game.
What is your vision about this?
How do you decide which items to make? Like i mostly follow ingame guides but sometimes it should be defensive items before offensive and i know its based on enemy heroes or their items. And the guide i choose might not be relevant to opposing team setup. So what do you think? How will i get used to decide which item to go for?
PS: Im new to this game, i havent played DoTA before coming to HoN.
1) Yesterday I played with 4 friends, we went up against a clan in all pick. I knew before we even hit enter que that we would most likely lose since we didn't have a plan or anything and 3 of them play very irregularily but still, something happened in the game that I want to know what I'm supposed to do about.
I was CD on legion short lane with VJ up against a solo Bubbles. My farm was strong and he even died because of a misclick. I knew that the first thing I had to do after getting ghost marchers is get a shrunken - we were up against WS, Gauntlet, Bubbles, Silhouette and Magmus (zzzz). Thing is that as soon as Gauntlet hit 6 - and I knew this would happen at the start of the game, just didn't know what I could possibly do against it - he and Bubbles started roaming me. As soon as their ultimates were up they'd come and burst me down. I know that this game revolves around burst and cc which CD doesn't have any of thus making him a 2nd rate hero but what can I do against that? To survive, let alone inflict any damage, I'd need to have a shrunken head by the time I'm done with the laning phase. How do I deal with such overwhelming burst and cc as a hero like CD?
- hotbl vest first, then shrunken
- ward the entry points to the lane you're free farming on
- if they focus you down early on in a teamfight, your team should be able to retaliate and win the fight. If they can't it's because one or more of the following reasons:
1) you were out of position
2) your teammates suck
3) your teammates aren't carrying/using TPs (see 2)
4) other team already has a big advantage (in current HP/mana or levels/gpm/item choices/etc)
Focusing down carries first is generally not a good strategy for a midgame skirmish (ganking is another matter, but as mentioned you need wards). initiators and gankers are more dangerous at that point, if their team spends its initiation/nukes to take out a lone CD in a teamfight, your team should just crush them with proper counter-initiation.

Answered them - sorry it was a bit late . Couldn't do it the same day![]()
All right, confession time: I SUCK with Valkyrie. Just absolutely awful. I mean, I can land arrows really well and I can lane with her really well, but then I just fall behind really fast and I don't fully understand why. I know the root-cause is my farm is dreadfully slow, but I am really struggling at raising it with Valk.
Somehow, the only way I can remain relevant in a game with Valk is if I buy Arcane Ring as my first item so then I can spam Call and farm similar to a Hag.
I just don't know what weight I should be putting on static farm vs. ganking vs. teamfighting, etc. I keep trying her out on low accounts, but I even seem to fail with her in 1500s. I've watched several streamers play her and I've downloaded Dabeliuteef replays and I just can't seem to emulate. She is by far my weakest hero and I know it can't be as hard as I'm making it out to be.
I got pidgeon-holed into playing her in DreamHoN in a suicide. I did really well in lane phase (no deaths, decent levels against an FA/Andro lane), but I just fell so far behind. I landed some huge arrows which set up some huge kills, but my inability to keep up in GPM was the main cause for my team losing. If I could have remained relevant or even decent, I believe we could have made group.
The simple solution would be to not play Valkyrie, but, in my eyes, how is that going to make me any better of a HoN player if I can't play what most see as one of the easiest, diverse and influential heroes in the game? I don't want to give up on it. I play a lot of heroes well and a lot of roles well, but I can't seem to play Valk to save my life.
Thanks.
