Slither carries like a boss as well with Hellflower.

Usually get it if I'm against a blink hero like magebane or hag basicly.

Good pick up on carries that have AoE Abilities to flash-farm.
It's a safe build up with stats that are more universally helpful than a Sheek Stick (which is technically better). It's an extra disable for your team. Admittedly it's better if someone on your team builds it instead, but that isn't always the case.

It's stupidly good early game to help gank heroes with escape mechanisms.

It's stupidly good early game to cripple early game heroes with very strong AoE nukes.

Most players when they pick a carry, focus on the late game and build accordingly. They don't realise that sometimes the mid game is what counts, and overlook how Strong an option Hellflower is. It's really good for mana-intensive carries. But there are better items to build. Just this item offers Utility.

can you give an example of why is it so stupidly good?

Silence to prevent blinking with bonus damage so you kill them faster. Sorry did I miss the point or you?

Not only is it a long disable on any non-autoattacker but the amped damage is huge. Ontop of that, it provides good stats/ damage for the amount of utility it provides. It's hard to explain past that point so if you need convincing, just try it out yourself.

I can rip the item apart and possibly patronise you in the process.

    Hellflower:

    20 int
    51 damage
    30 attack speed
    225% mana regeneration.

    Costs: 325+325+325+450+450+450+800+800+800g = 4725g

Apart from the on-use aspects, the advantages:

The steps to build it up are very cheap. So if you're having an unfortunate time farming, you can gain power fairly safely. (a weak point)

Despite having int on the item, int is actually the stat with the lowest value. Meaning, that it's not the primary stat. The int is a small bonus. Like how the Int on the Nullfire Blade is a small bonus. You rarely build Nullfire Blade for the intelligence alone.
As a result, Hellflower offers a small boost of damage to Intelligence heroes, and provides a larger mana pool for all heroes. Given there's a few mana-intensive carries, this helps their casting longevity in team fights.

Mana Regen for casting longevity and being able to spam their abilities more in aid of quickly farming.

Attackspeed and Attack Damage. All the benefits of an Agility Hero gaining agility minus the armour. This basically means that for all heroes, this is 'equally' good item from an offensive point of view.

This item was built more often in DotA because there were less options and Attack Modifiers included more items.

With Nullfire vs Hellflower. Nullfire is more situational than Hellflower. Nullfire primarily is built to dispell and hurt summons.

isn't the slow and mana drain on nullfire nice too?not to mention nh can dispel pesti ult,or most dots from any hero.

Sandwraith who traditionally built is benefitted from the strong slow (comboing with his sand) and it propogating to his illusions. However it won't now so is situational.

Nighthound gets it because it's an instantly applied slow. It ensures his victim is guarenteed to stay a long time in his cloud (which silences and slows as well). It also gives him a massive chunk of Agility which works well with his Backstab Passive. And an a expansererish mana pool. But as you said as well, it lets him dispell debuffs on himself that nullify his Ultimate.

In a game where there is so much burst damage and stuns, draining mana is not a high priority. Technically, you could build it to counter RA. But RA could counter it by using a Power Supply near-death to have a good chance of having excess 50% mana.

Bloodhunter could build Nullfire Blade to give a Team Hardcarry a Damage buff and remove the silence side-effect, but probably is better off using it to silence an enemy support/nuker/disabler.

Master of Arms tends to build it due to his rapid attack speed with Red and his supporty role.

The use effect is very potent for destroying Malphas or Removing Jeraziah's Magic Bubble (or any other very annoying buffs/debuffs/summons)

Generally, Hellflower is a better item. Null is Hero specific or Counter Hero specific.

If you want to dispell hostile debuffs usually a Geometer's Bane/Shrunken Head performs the same job but with bonus uses (magic immunity, spawns 2 illusions). Barrier Idol on a Tanky-Supporty-Thing is good for dealing with hostile AoE magic damaging debuffs.

It's sick on Night Hound, try it.

Try Nighthound Nullfire in Smoke cloud, and when the target leaves, hellflower. Pro-longed silence. Sorry, that was a little trollish yet logical. I'm sure anything with agility is better than a hellflower on Nighthound.

Yes well, not everyone has steroids which SPECIFICALLY use agility (or your base damage), so in many cases, hitting faster and harder will have the same effect, as stated above by...oh, that was you, I'm preaching to the choir
