Hello guys. I hope you know that the FPS drop issue it's very old. I posted on forums and i got flamed and so on. Im playing on a Phenom B55 @ 3.6GHZ + 2 coolers, ATI RADEON 6950 DIRECTCU2 1024 mb DDR5 256 BIT, 4GB DDR3 Corsair. Usually, the game runs at 60 FPS on the laning phase, but, as soon as several heroes are visible, the fps drops to 30-35. Note that FPS drops are not visible in similar games (which are more CPU hungry than HoN - see Dota2
The usual solutions the staff members offer are: 1. reinstall HoN, reinstall Windows, Reinstall DirectX, Update video drivers etc etc. Note that i've tested this issue across Wnidows XP x86, X64, Windows 7 X64 and X86, the same issue occurs with latest drivers, latest directX and latest Windows updates.
I also have to mention that even if the graphics options are set to LOW the same FPS drop occurs.
I hope that they will at least take a look at this issue.
Thanks

Hi.
Try this for me and let me know the results:
Open the console, Ctrl+F8
Type "d3d_modeEx false" and hit enter
Restart HoN
Thanks!

Ok, i will try this later, i am still at work at the moment, i'll reply here. (I'm hoping that this does not enable OpenGL mode, because OpenGL has very low FPS![]()

By the power of grayskull! It's not just fixed, it's faster than before.
I now remember using the sleepMS command before, because HoN was stressing out my GPU in lobby because the game was constantly at 300+ FPS, so I used that command in the past. But it's all fixed now, thanks <3
EDIT: The problem with the game itself is fixed, but now my GPU is working at 100% again, trying to achieve as many FPS as possible in the lobby. Is there any command to limit the amount of FPS in the lobby? Host_maxfps xx doesn't seem to work.

We'll be releasing a hotfix that disables D3D9Ex support (what that CVAR controls) tonight. Sorry for the trouble!

Hello guys, well i've tried the console commands, but for me it's not fixed. I'm sure that this fixes the issue for nVIDIA users, but yesterday, i tried the settings in a match and the FPS dropped from 60 to 28 for a couple of seconds, so i'm guessing maybe this commands / hotfixes will help only some of the people. Deejay, if you want i can upload a console log and maybe someone will take a look, i've been having FPS problems since HoN 2.0.
Thanks for your support.
Hello guys, as i stated in the posts above those console commands do not solve the FPS issue for me. Instead i've opened the console.log after having a match full of FPS drops and i noticed that my Direct3d restarts everytime a FPS drop occur. How can i prevent this? It seems that these direct3d restarts affect the FPS.
Thanks
After the first post of mine in which i've stated that Direct3d restarts whenever a team-fight occurs, i've decided to make a full reinstall of HoN. (as in the guidelines found on the forums, uninstall game, delete the Hon folder from the documents location etc.)
I also played a matchmaking match in which the FPS drop still occured (from 60 FPS to 28-30). After the game i've opened the console.log and i've noticed that there were no direct3d restarts this time but the FPS drops still occurred while in-game.
I've been having this issue for long time. I've also gathered some info from other AMD - ATI users and found out that i'm not the only one experiencing this. It's purely random, but the FPS drop occurs mostly in team-fights.
Note that my CPU and video card do not overheat, i have good cooling within my case, also temp. monitoring software.
The HDD activity does not exceed the average use like in other games.
I would really like to give a helping hand here to the devs solving this issue or at least investigating it. I can also gather more hardware information from other users having the same problem as mine if you want.
Thanks.
