Do dots forums look like this too?? Why can't we just praise and enjoy our game in peace![]()
Because they have nothing else to do, its the same old people, coming here to plague the forums and tell us how superior their game is, and how bad S2 has become. I don't know what they try to accomplish, but its rather annoying, it would make sense if they made topics on the Dota forums, but they rather plague these forums, and the funny thing is some of them are only on the HoN forums to only talk about Dota and give information how good it goes with the competitive in Dota, and yes im referring to Badabing, whenever hes on these forums, its only about Dota. Hopefully when Dota2 gets released they will disappear with time.
I'd guess most of the people here who talk about Dota2 are old diehard HoN fans who eventually got disappointed how the game was/is handled (Spot on quote from Warchamp7: "It has been a horrible experience watching such a fantastic product fade into what it has become; a shadow of it's former self and a mere glimmer of what it had the potential to be."). Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to see HoN proscene getting revitalized, it doesn't - however - mean that I'm delusional enough to think HoN is a) bigger game b) has more players or c) has better proscene.
It annoys me that there are ignorant people here who claim theres nothing wrong in HoN scene and everything is going well. To me, you are the people who's fault it is that this scene never gets any better. Unless s2 is being told continously that they need to shape up, I don't see how that would ever happen. Why would anyone better their product if they don't understand there's something wrong in the first place?
While Dota 2 undoubtedly and unquestionably has the bigger and more active competitive scene, Hon's player base (including average and peak activity) is still larger. Whether or not that might be because D2 still is in beta or not is a different question: but Hon still almost always has more people online.
the infantile discussion style here is pretty annoying tbh.
Ok. So if you leave a game, you are sent an AIDS needle. Additionally, you get +1 disconnect AND are forced to play as Kongor next game. You can't leave his lair, except when a rune spawns. You must run directly to the rune (still as Kongor) and guard it. If you do not do this, then HoN immediately shuts down and formats your hard drive and injects you with the AIDS needle.
i hope a mod comes and deletes all these hon vs dota2 posts. the argument is old, i dont care about YOUR opinion on either one as i have my own and its cluttering any info on novas return to hon. im trying hard to touch my pee pee thinking about nova but you guys are a big boner killer.
incorrect if u compare international client to the amount of european, american and australian players in dota 2 dota 2 has more. The seag side i s carrying hon, valve hasnt got the servers atm to handle the amount of people that would play dota 2. Icefrog estimated that 1 million players alone play dota 1 in china going off patch downloads etc.
"X game is better than Hon for Y reasons!!" Yeah whatever dude.
Why do you bother with all the ****in Hon vs Dota 2 / LoL / whatever discussions? It's just mindless circlejerking that never reaches any conclusion.
Keep the fanboyism in their respective forums and stop clogging up the forums with this bullshit.
Well said. Was about to say something similar. I play both games (more Dota 2 atm) and thats why I'm still posting in HoN forums as well as many others here. You guys just can't keep acting like it's alright with competitive HoN scene. The fact that the most discussed topic is the whole HoN-Dota thing shows that it's not. And I think it's good that this discussion comes up because otherwise nothing will change.
One of the main reasons I enjoy Dota 2 more at the moment is because there are competitive matches covered every day. And after watching an awesome Dota 2 game I just don't feel like playing HoN although I used to like this game more.
You see folks, THIS is what is wrong with the competitive scene. Not to bash on ZoNeX who at least made a well-written and mature post, but let me get this straight:
Playing mostly Dota 2 becouse it's competitive scene is bigger and coming on Hon forums just to tell Hon players that their competitive scene is smaller will not improve anything! Just talking about it and then going off to another game without actually doing anything about it besides writing a post will not help anyone at all!
You really want to help improving the competitive scene? Stop whining about it, stop comparing it to other games and start getting a team together! ZoNeX, if you feel like it, write a post to NoVa here - he's also from Germany and currently testing out new potential members for a highly competitive team. As for all others - go to the team recruitment forums and start getting your damn competitive **** together instead of whining about how HoNtour is a joke, how few pro teams exist in HoN and how S2 killed the comp scene. Do you expect S2 to come knocking on your door and kindly ask you if you could please put a team together? Do you need accurate HoNtour dates to start putting a team together and practice?
I mean common - it's not like football clubs are made just 2 months before the next international football league is announced; they are made years ahead and then they train and practice even though there is absolutely no matches in the next months, just so that they can be prepared for when the real matches start up. Same goes for e-sports.

But these variables dont matter. He said HoN has more players on at a time, its irrelevant to state that SEA is carrying it and servers this and that. Thats all wish-wash compared to what he said. It doesnt help that you said he was incorrect.
Person A: HoN has more players on at any given time
Person B: No you're wrong Southeast Asia carries it
That doesnt make sense and doesn't help at all!!
The difference is that HoN's numbers have been steadily on the decline everywhere except SEA and even SEA's growth hasn't made up the difference(a month ago, the numbers peaked at 103 000 users). The opposite is occurring in DotA 2, the numbers steadily increase on a week to week basis; last months numbers peaked around 50 000. Although population IS important, since it shows the general health of the game; there's no need to get into a pissing contest about it. DotA 2 will inevitably become the bigger game, but I don't care if 3 million people play it, I'm more interested in the top .1% that actually excel at it and make it a spectator sport.
But you can't just not count the biggest part of hon's player base. Overall is what counts, who cares who has the biggest? I never said D2 doesn't have the "potential" to overtake Hon, but right now Hon is still bigger. What's even to say all the D1 players will make the switch?
You can actually count that. Can I play with Garena players if i wanted to? No. So they are basicly not even playing my game, right? Its like they are in a different universe.
I'd love to play with a comp team so i could find out just how bad i am Nova, cutting out that idiocy, respect for your decision that takes balls and maturity two things usually lacking.
For dota2 vs HoN i'd easily call dota 2 the winner if they change the way the game plays from the 50% turtle matches, watching people get perfect CK's in an empty lane isn't interesting nor is it challenging, especially compared to some of the more complex skills required to be genuinely talented at a moba. For now however HoN bar the occasional match is vastly more interesting to watch than dota.
Are you stuck in the past? The meta has been heavy push/gank oriented for the last....8 months?
