Midwars : A tip for blue / pink

I am not exactly sure why, but I pretty much always end up blue or pink when I do midwars. Here is something I learned from experience and which I seem to be the only one doing (or have thought of?)

When I ban heroes, I usually ban warden + valkyrie and then pebbles, behe or gladiator, depending on my mood. Most of the time, the other guy will ban devourer / flint and then behemoth or artillery. However, sometimes, the other guy won't ban devourer / flint and we end up with a bunch of idiots wanting to ruin the game by picking them, as it's a rather well known fact they are utter disbalanced in midwars.

Here is what I do when it happens. Since I have a rather good internet connection, I usually end up having the character I rush pick (here read devourer or flint). I then wait until the very end, and I repick last second and pick the hero I want instead. This basically is the "host" paying some of his starting gold to have an extra ban.

It works, is efficient, and makes the game more enjoyable when we don't have to worry about someone scrapping the fun out of everyone because of a stupid pick that should be auto-banned in miwars to begin with.

I suggest more people try and do it, this would make the game more interesting for all.

Devo is indeed mass of fun - in regular games. In midwars, there is no fun at all to play a character that will screw the game up almost automatically without people actually playing the game. What's the point of playing the game if you know 100% you will win and that won't be because you are good at the game or deserved it? What's the point of playing when there's no challenge?

That little trick at least allows for one more ban to be made (2 if the other guy does it), and has the potential of making the game more fun and fair for all.

PS: When doing it, there's always a bunch of kids crying that you screwed their game and that they would have picked devo/flint. Ignore them. One day, they "might" mature up... or not.

Eh? Dev is the reason mid wars was fun, but of course it's no fun when only one team gets him.

It's midwars, you get 2 silvers more for winning the game. I'd rather have a better chance of a fairer / more interesting / challenging game than having +2 silver for playing a game with a handicap for the enemy.

But some people get enjoyment out of winning in Mid Wars at any cost. Mad I know.
Myself I like picking random heroes, going for mad builds but actually playing well. Like if I'm keeper, I won't level up Treant and play like Treant Protector from DotA.

But there will always be people who want to be Aluna or Valk or Pyro. At least we don't have Vindicator.
