Hey guys, i posted this in the competitive section because i was some competitive insight about this topic.
I enjoy playing bubbles alot however when im in a game i get half the team telling me to ward etc because they think im a support hero.
I dont think bubbles is a support hero, because i dont see how is spells help the team directly.
Now i know im a 1560 pub or whatnot but im legitmatly interested in knowing why so many people consider bubbles to be a support hero and if he is in fact a support hero.
Thanks
he isn't a support. He is an initiator and ganker.
He does improve with the addition of items (PK especially, and perhaps table/stormspirit/whatever) and he has those nukes to farm when he isn't messing with the enemy team.
But I guess in some lineups he might be the most suitable support compared to the other heroes picked?
And besides, he is way too much fun to play to just be left underleved and underfarmed and not being able to do anything
But I'm only 1600 so what do I know :/

Bubbles is definitely not a support. He is a ganker / initiator / solo laner.
He isn't a support, but I imagine that in many of your games you do not have a true support hero. When the other 4 people are completely opposite of support bubbles may be the best choice for warding. Although in that situation it's usually better to have everyone pitch in a bit.
When your team picks predator, chronos, valkyrie and pestilence well you should do some warding.
But no he isn't a support.
Er... If you can play support Fayde, I don't see why you can't play support bubbles?
There are better supports out there and his main role is not support, but it is not hard to see that he could do alright at it.

Happend to me alot aswell, also happens alot when im playing Polly...
Sure bubbles could do the support role fine, disregarding his lack of slows and stuns of course (besides the ult).
But so could a Gauntlet. Or a Pyromancer. Or a Moraxus. And it is a shame to let their potential go to waste because no better suitable support was picked.
Well in the case where no better suitable support is picked, they have to suck it up and take one for the team. I admit it is a waste of their true potential, but games are not won by true potential mostly; they are won by what you make out of your current line-ups.
I have played some very unconventional supports like Flint Beastwood (maxing E > W for amazing & non-stop lane harass) and Arachna (Perma-slow, not bad); but that is what you do when solo queue algorithm hands you 4 other last-second carry pickers.

depends on what heroes are in the team AND who is more suited for the job... bubbles can indeed become a support/semi-support if thats whats needed
I have played a supportive Sil, with a TDL in lane.
That a hero CAN support does not mean he/she SHOULD support.
Same goes with every other role.
As ppl have said, Bubbles shouldn't be picked as support because their are way better choices, but it often (especially in your bracket) happens that he is still the most fitting hero to support in that particular game. Even without farm he can easily get off all his spells, so yea ... why not if it's the best choice for the team.
I personally think fayde is better suited for support than bubbles. a fayde with a bound eye coupled with her ultimate could arguably be the best anti-support and counter-warder in the game as she can still be very effective in more ways than bubbles without too much farm.
