    Legionnaire mid

Hey guys, I saw few guys playing legionnaire mid lane, with 2 bucklers and 1 runes of blight for starting items. The question is: how can you play this hero mid effectively against ranged/melee opponents?

Going mid with legionnaire is not a good idea, especially with 2 bucklers. He is a solid jungler and once mastered should get over 250 gpm every time if easy camp is not blocked. I dont really see legionnaire laning unless it is with demented shaman in hard lane.

If you are still going to mid, lets say you are playing all random, you definetly should get hatchet and buckler. I dont really see legionnaire winning or losin mid lane against any1, unless you are really outplaying(or outplayed by) your opponent. Maybe could try to get lucky kills with charge and taunt + creeps attacking you. If you want maximize damage you should max charge and get ghost marchers first item. Then maybe hotbl and pk. For fun you could try to get insanitarius after boots and activate it before you charge. You shouldnt gank, unless the enemy lacks in stuns. If you are ganking a lane with creeps near your tower and enemies without stuns, you will score a kill or two.

Surely you'll get solid exp and solid farm in mid but you'd do better in jungle.

The problem is that if you're playing against a decent opponent, he'll simply out-harass you if it's a ranged hero. You'll have an incredible hard time playing against heros like Pyromancer, Torturer etc.

I guess it's a simple fist rule. You could go mid Legio if:

You're freaking good at this game.
Your mid opponent is freaking bad at this game.

As a conclusion; don't go mid unless you're 100% confident you'll win the lane. Jungle Legionnaire still is the best option and can easily level along with the mid heros and get a decent 300GPM.

PS: I dislike Ghost Marchers on Legionnaire simply because it leaves you with an incredible low mana pool/HP pool (especially if you don't have helm yet) and Base Damage isn't really an attractive stat on Legio.

I've never bought any other boots than Ghost Marchers on Legionnaire. I dont really see a reason going steam boots, ever. If you need to get tanky, finish HotBL and get vestments before finishing ghost marchers. Manapool is small but where do you need it? Taunt and especially charge are so cheap and during jungling you can maintain your mana at 2/3 and still farm effectively. When you get lvl 6 mana pool seems quite small, but during a gank you can cast your skills only once due to long CDs and therefore you dont need max mana any higher. Only reason steam boots are good if u plan to gank without max mana. I tend to go back to fountain lvl 6-10, fill mana and tp for a gank.

Ghost marchers provide two really important things that makes them superior compared to steam boots.
    1) Unitwalking + speedboost. Follow opponent with unitwalking after charge+taunt. More procs and auto attacks.
1+) Without speed boost catching enemy and using ulti would be pain in the ass.
    2) More damage with charge. Ghost marchers gives you extra 24 damage. With lvl 4 charge (Which should be maxed first) thats 72 (3x24) extra damage with charge. Also I think during taunt your DPS is bigger.

lego excels in going mid against melee opponents with a low base armor, as he cant be harassed out of lane and he in turn can force the opponent out of lane with his spin as they come in for last hits

pebbles would be the perfect example as he is melee and has an extremely low starting armor.

if your not mid against such a hero, you're pretty much throwing the lane and giving up what would've been good farm in the jungle
In this world gone mad, we won't spank the EM players, the EM players will spank us.

I've seen Yoda playing mid with him several times and dominated so hard that mid had no chance.
as legionaire you will need the rune control to be aggresive as you can.

your right and wrong at the same time armor doesnt matter if his "a melee" if its devourer / tremble before 6 you can last hit deny most of the time legionnaire mid works but not with x2 buckler and only situational like "if your against devourer mid or tremble and such" against range, have fun

Playing extremely agressive makes legio decent in mid.

Constantly right clicking the hero so that the enemy creeps attack you is the trick.

You can spin someone out of the lane that way. This works well in <1500 and decent against melee heroes.
